Lower the idle 50-100rpm and it should sound just the same as a 112 lol. LSA isnt everything to do with cam sound. I had a CC306 112 LSA in an older setup, Now i have a 108lsa, Idle difference isnt noticeable.

I would say a CC503 on a 114 is a GREAT cam for a daily driver. If a Higher LSA cam makes peak power at a lower rpm, then thats exactly what the CC503 needs in an LT1. They need to be shifted at high rpms, If the 114lsa can do the same thing and at a lower RPM, id go for it. Not to mention it will run great in traffic.

Unless your doing heads with this cam, id run it. Most cam only cars run around the same 1/4 mile and speed, The larger cams just have more driveability issues, and it comes down to the driver and suspension mods after a point.

**edit, just noticed you sold the cam anyways and got a 112lsa***

The wide LSA may make power at a lower rpm BUT they will also make LESS power.
You were right in saying LSA isn't everything but it does give some indication of change in overlap if the same lobes are kept.

A 210/215 cam on a 108 LSA is likely to have a lot less overlap than a 230/235 cam on the same LSA. I say "likely" because lobes themselves play a roll in this as well.

A 503 / 114 LSA is what I have in my daily driver. Auto with stock stall. No dyno graph, but torque does feel strong.

Holy **** this thread is full of fail.

When will people learn what matters is VALVE EVENTS.

You simply can not discuss LCA, duration, lobes, etc without discussing the relative valve events...


Saying "this one guy tried a 116 LSA and it was a failure" is just stupid.

You can't just talk about one aspect of a cam like that...

Honestly I wanted to jump in this thread but all of the fail/false theory without any comparison has kept me quiet.... until now.

8 to 10 horsepower isnt the world. But neither is shifting 100rpm lower (if thats what it equates to).
