Default Blower install on a LT1

So how bad is it? Kinda curious, whats the worst part? I'm thinking like a S trim for example. It lives where the air pump goes right, so that has to move. But what else would make it so terrible, I can't think of much.

I'm pretty sure the worst part is just doing the wiring/tubing. It's not that hard of an install.

forge the internals before you go through the hassle of the install because it won't be long till you have to rip everything out to rebuild.

unless of course you already have forged internals then it what I said is irrelevant

I don't really care about breaking the motor.

Just run the right amount of boost and you'll be fine.

I don't know how bad the install is, but I'm running a T-Trim with an aftercooler and it's a nightmare under my hood.

You're right, I have seen the after cooler set ups they take up some real estate. I was thinking a non after cooled S trim with an alky kit, simple set up. Mainly just bored and want a project always thought it would be cool to have a blower. Plus I have seen some kits for around $2K.

Honestly I would go with ATI but everyone has their preference. The install is not bad but I would start by replacing the balancer with an ATI Superdamper so you can get a key on the crank. I had my balancer spin on the crank and it almost came off once. Take the nose off to run the intercooler tubing and that goes OK....there is always some trimming on the hoses. Check my build in the link in the sig and that may give you some ideas.

Good luck,
Jon

If you want to see pics of my setup when it was installed, go to http://www.donleeauto.com/ and click on customer cars. Go to page 2 and click on the 30th SS. There are pics under my hood and with the nose off for the intercooler install.

Thats what I like to hear Neil!

As long as you have some time Im sure it woulndt be a hard install and dont run that aftercooler, those are junk. But you will need something to keep IAT's down especialy in TX.

Here's mine:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyycHkEnHYA

worst part in my opinion is that damn elbow that goes to the blower itself, I did with engine in he car so it was very hard to stick my hands beside the headers, no room what so ever. If you do it do it with the engine out and drop the whole thing in in one shot. No big deal really it's a lot of fun and a lot of WHINING.

That is the exact setup I'm getting ready to do. I haven't been able to make up my mind on which way I want to go with my car but that setup sounds fun. I found a guy selling a kit for pretty cheap on a local board too. If I wouldn't do that I would probably just do a cam and spray or something.
