damn well i wonder if something like that could really lose me 1 maybe even 2 mph?

It looks to me like your times are where they should be with you/your car not being an all out drag racer. You can always squeeze a little more here and there.

My 93 Z with stock a4 and 2.73's, LT4 HC kit, hooker LT's and ebay Cai & m/t dr's ran a 13.5 @ 104. 2.1 60.

With my 2.73's I trapped 104mph in SECOND gear. No slow 2-3 shifts for me

3.73s are here waiting to be installed.

I now have a cut-out and a MSD6al, once I get the gears knocked out its back to the track. Prolly next spring.

My trans is on the factory build with 122k miles. Still chirps 2nd. Once it goes its going to get a 3200 stall with lockup.

Well the Hotcam is a tad bit larger (218-224?).

With the Drs I def do not get the 2nd gear chirp. Hell I could hardly burnout!

I didnt have wheel hop untill I installed subframe connectors. Before, the tires would spin but not make any noise. After the SFC, they scream and bite and.... hop.

Ive got some LCA relocation brackets that I hope will solve that. Plus Im thinking of boxing in the stock contol arms.

Those Chevelles are heavy pigs. But damn sexy pigs.

My first car was a 69 2dr ht Chevelle. It went 14.2 with a 350/ powerglide. I didnt know much about that engine, it was inplace when I bought the car. It did have a lumpy idle though, headers, performer intake and electric fans.

I miss that car. Heres an old pic I recently found of the " bondo bucket beater"

does the car have quite a few miles on it?

on an 80k mile motor, with LT's, CAI, and a tune, I went 13.19@103, and an 8.49@83 with a 3.23 and street tires, on a 2.00 60'.

I'm not sure what the elevation and all that crap was, that's just what the timeslip said that evening.

what kind of specs are on that cam? I assume they aren't very radical, to get buy with a stock converter.

if you're happy with the car, that's all that matters...

IM definitely happy with the car, its obviously got some left in it, im sure after the converter and a fresh look over it should be right on par. there wasn't 1 LS1 or LT1 that beat my time either at the track, the GTO's were running anywhere from 13.58 at the lowest to like 14.00 all around the same mile an hour as me.

With full exhaust gears and tune I'm running 104 and the DA when I was doing this was over 3000....idc if you have a4 or your DA is 2600...with full bolt ons and a cam (idc if its small or whatever) there is no way you should only be running 103 mph. My friends bolt on lt1 is running 106-107 in the quarter when the weather was bad too...actually it rained 15 minutes after his last run

It seems like comparing apples to apples but its just not the case.
His day at the track and your friends day at the track have so many
variables that could easily make up your friends MPH and
his estimated/ corrected MPH.

Track prep, humidity, temp, condition of the car, mods, condition of the
driver (maybe the OP is a heavy guy, maybe your friend is a little guy).

If it hasn't been mentoined already, where do you live? I see mountainous terriain in the background of your pic.

EDIT- I just noticed in your sig something about AZ. Love that state and love the desert, but the altitude there can be a KILLER! What city do you live in?

phoenix, and i do love it here, especially during the winter months cause it doesnt really ever freeze over or snow so i can DD my car all year long, although in the summer the leather is so hot it could give you second degree burns i still enjoy the state. no natural disasters of any type, no horrible weather except monsoons and thats that.

i just actually looked into my 2-3 slow shift so hopefully i can try the little trick i found in the auto tranny section and that should help the shift happen faster.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think all my personal "bests" have been on a track with a 940' elevation.

gotta love the foot hills of the appalachian mountains!

Go find a track with near zero elevation and you'll get more bestesers.

I used to live in DFW. Raced at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis a lot and loved to go to HRP because yes, there was a 1 to 1.5mph and .1 to .3 of a difference (at least with my car) between the two. I believe Ennis is around 500' whereas HRP is a lovely 15ft.
