Default Debating on cams...

I'm debating between the cc503, cc306, and gm847 for my 383. It's a m6 with 3.23s right now, planning to upgrade to 3.73s soon. The whole bottom end is built (eagle 4340 and forged pistons) and I plan to spray at least a 150 shot. The car will mainly be a weekend toy with some track time, so I care mainly about driveability and overall the best performer.

If it were me I'd up the gears to a 4.10 and run the 306 or 847. I'd check out going custom too but with a 383 the cc503 would be nice for being a comfortable driver and such but IMO a little too small.

I was thinking 4.10s but I wouldn't want to have slicks to get traction. How is the 847 for driveabiltiy? It doesn't have to be necessarily comfortable, just reasonably tolerable.

The more gear you give that cam the better drivability it will have. With 4.10's and a 383 I would imagine the car to drive just fine with that cam.

Between them, not the 503, to small for a 383 IMO.

bigger isn't always better....have a friend that ran 11.1 @ 119-120 with a 503 in a 383 with LT1 castings.

I went 11.3 @ 119 with a 222/228 .544/.538

Call Advanced Induction and get one of their off the shelf grinds... If you do decide to go with the 306 then let me know, I will sell you mine, It has about 8k miles on it. I want to go with an AI cam myself.
