it depends.
i ended up getting a harness, coils, and pcm from a 99 truck for 100$
i got efi live used for 300$ with one vin left on it.
i repinned the lt1 harness into the truck ls1 connectors for free
now to get this harness, pcm and coils for 100$ i went to the local yard and took it off myself. it may cost more at a larger yard if you just want to walk up to the desk and have them hand it to you.
if you pruchased off ebay you may pay 75$ for pcm 75-100 for coils, and 100$ for the harness (you would be chaper to buy the needed connectors)
efi live new is 550$ with 2 vins..

Did you need a different MAF as well or would the one from an LT1 work? Or are you just using a speed density tune?
Would you be willing to share the info on repinning the harness to the people who buy your opti conversion?

the lt1 maf would work fine, when tuning you would have to copy the maf tabels out of a 98 os as i am pretty sure they use the same maf.
or you could upgrade to the larger ls maf i grabbed one from the truck i got the harness and pcm from and it looks like it would flow a substatial bit more air.
i however am planning to go sd with my 2 bar tune

yes i would need to know the year then i would give a pinout diagram that would say somting along the lines of
lt1 black connector ls1 blue connector
23 blu/wht >> 34
you would take the blue/white wire from the lt1 black connector in hole 23 and put it in the blue ls1 connector hole 34.
i can also supply the actual wiring diagram from your car and the ls1 car so you can compare as you go along.
i would also reccomend labeling the wires before you pull them out incase you ever have to go back, or you plug one in the wrong hole.

If I could junkyard build this for around 500 bucks and install everything myself, which should be possible at these huge FL "you-pull-it" junkyards, I would be saving over a grand that I was planning on spending for an aftermarket system. I wouldn't need EFI live or anything since my tuner can take care of all that for me - I'll trailor the car to him if need be, my shop of choice is a whole 10 minutes from me .
This is especially good news for us 93 guys who are tired of using piggyback chips and emulators...or even worst, UV flashed PROMS

On a sidenote, this should be able to control a 4l80e right? Would it be as simple as getting the harness for the trans (former M6 car here) and pinning it into the LS1 pcm connector as well (in addition to the tuning modifications of course)?

yes if you use a 99+ pcm and get a conversion harness. the pcm will control this tranny when flashed proper.
things that may not work
traction control (may not work not 100% sure)
egr (wont work) could easly make a adaptor plate to mount ls style egr.
skip shift dash light (may not work) << who cares, skip shift will still work the dash light may not iluminate.
94, and 95 auto tranny need modification to work

On the flip side... Those of us who don't have the money to get tunes or buy the tuning software, that leaves us 93 people just as stuck. Because you either have it done totally right the first time, or you have to get updates done later on. There's some cheap burners on eBay for $15~ that would be much more worth the time.

well i know when you do a ls1 swap in a lt1 car the gauges i mentioned dont work. I know you have to buy a Dakota digital converter box for the tach. But if you said you did it with efi live i guess you can do it with efi live then. The speedo should work but i don't think the mileage will as the ls1 cluster is digital and the lt1 is analog but im not positive on that. When my buddy bought a swaped car it was hell trying to figure out why some of it didn't work because we didnt do the work. We never got his speedo to work but i think its because the computer had a A4 tune on it and the car was a m6. I bet it would just be a lot easier swapping clusters then all the other bs plus the newer one looks better IMO

as for gauges I think with some research they will work besides 96 and older due to not being digital as a 97 is
I have a 97 so I should be good since it's an LS1 cluster
We have done a few LT1/LS1 engine swaps and with a Speartech converted harness the dash has worked for us.

i truly belive that it can all be made to work. like i said my tach was off but efi live has provisons to adjust that.
has anyone been able to get the 95 and older cluster to work on ls1 swap using efilive? i know hp tuners have far less options in this area, mabey that is the reason people have issues?
mabey i will put the car on 4 jack stands and do the ferris buler..
