Default Where can i get a freaking timing set?!

I have a 1993 lt1 wich i believe is different than the 1994-1997 lt1 timing set. But I can't find new one! I'v got the engine out right now and it's got 100,000 miles on it. I wanted to throw a new one on while its out. Any info is appreciated. thanks

I'm pretty sure the 93's are the same..GMPARTSDIRECT has always been a good place to find inexpensive OEM parts

92-94 is one timing set, 95-97 is another. Unless the sprockets are pretty worn, you will be fine with just a new chain.

I have all the GM part numbers at home and can link them to you later tonight. GMPARTSDIRECT has always been my go to place for GM parts because they have awesome prices and fast shipping

As long as it's all open, I would replace the whole timing set if its got 100k miles on the clock. GMpartsdirect has some of the best prices around, but they usually take a while to ship. Have you tried Scoggin-Dickey?

I looked at the gmpartsdirect website and they don't have it. But if you have part numbers on hand that would be cool. Thanks!

You must have a newer lt1 then. I have to change a shitton of stuff to convert to an lt4 set. And I don't need anything better that stock for what i'm running right now.

If you use a 95-97 vented opti (non-splined drive), yes.

I have the 1993, so its a splined opti,(the later opti's aren't splined??) but i have the msd rebuild kit so it is vented. I did find this on the lt4 extreme duty (i don't need it) timing set readout.

To convert 1993 and 1994 engines, you must use camshaft P/N 10224242, distributor P/N 1104032, timing cover P/N 12552426, vac harness P/N 12554395, and vac fitting P/N 14082470.

WTF!! seriously haha

Yeah, the 95-97 opti's are not splined-drive. You can sell your MSD rebuild kit and buy a 95-97 opti for ~$255 plus shipping. Then you'd have a whole new distributor, not just a cap and rotor, more peace of mind.

I think the chain would be the same for all years...but does the camshaft timing gear differ from '93-'94 and '95-'97. Then the whole splined-drive/non splined-drive opti would come into play.

Yes, the cam gears are different. They are splined for the 92-94. If you were to swap out to vented opti (timing cover, cam, etc) you could use any SBC timing set.

That's what I was thinking. And if i were doing a build on a 100K mile engine, I would definitely replace the entire distributor, not just the cap and rotor, if it hadn't been changed before.
