pulling trans ?'s
Anyone have any tips or tricks on pulling a trans? to make it quick without breaking anything.
im going to a pick and pull monday to drop a trans out of a 94 z28 to put in my car, and would like to go at it with a advantage so i dont look like a monkey screwing a football out there in the dirt

If you have stock exhaust chances are some of the bolts will break. Use a lot of pb blaster or wd-40 let it soak for like a day. Pull the oil senender off the back off the block or it will break when you lower the tranny. Other than that there really are no other tricks that I know of. Standard trany R&R

hey if you want i noticed its really easy if you have the time to pop the intake it makes getting those two top bolts a million times easier cause you can get to them with a wrench. everytime ive pulled my trans ive popped the intake and bought the 20 dollar gashet its defintaly worth it in my eyes. good look with that

Get a flare nut wrench for the tranny lines. Get a lot of different 14mm wrenches. Make sure you have PLENTY of extensions of all sizes and some of the knuckle joints and a few different 14mm sockets shallow and deep in case one gets stuck on the bolt upon reinstallation. ((It happened to me.))
To me it's a very easy job. I did a tranny swap all by myself in a couple hours with only a floor jack and jack stands.

I have pulled my tranny out about 6 or 7 times and total time to get it up on supports 1 foot high on all four tires with the help of my younger daughter it took 45 min... :-)
the easiest way to get to the 2 bolts on top behind the intake is before you undo the other bolts support your tranny where the cross member is and take out the cross member and let the jack hold it up then lower the jack so if you looking from the back of the tranny look forward you can see the 2 top bolts then get all the 3/8 drive extension about 2ft with a 9/16" swival on one end and a 3/8"- 1/2" adaptor on the other end with a 1/2" drive rachet so you have better leverage and just get it on the head of the bolt and turn.
I put then on the same way to..
it was the easiest way for me;-)
but do it how ever easiest for you.

hey f3rr3t if you want the easiest way i think itll be less fighting cusin and bleeding since you dont wanna stay under the car to long. just pull the intake and pop those two on top atleast at the junkyard. i would recommend it when installin to it. just put the bottom for in and throw the top two. just my two pennies wish the best for ya buddy

yea im not saying leave them out. durrrr. lol i mean tif you pull the intake put the bottom four in and then put in the top two honestly with the intake off the are right there and you can get a 9/16 wrench in there and really torque them down. honestly i dont think you will be able to torque them down as much using a long *** extension and uni. (not saying its a bad idea cause i did that forever with my pops on our old SBC and BBC) im just saying with the LT1s i think this is the best way. this weekend ill be re-installing my motor and trans seperate through the top for about the 5th time and i found this way to be the easiest. with the motor drop in the top with no acc. and rad. pulled out (leave intake off) bolt trans up with good access to the top bolts and button eveything up. i hope i clarified myself so i dont sound like a complete redneck lol

that makes much more sense.
when i go to the yard tomorrow if the car is not totaled im not going to get the trans
if its totaled its there cuz its totaled.
if its in mint shape its there with a drivetrain problem
