well i would like to in the near future get like a 2500 stall and a set of 3.73 or 4.10 gears and either a set of 255-50-16 drag radials, or a set of like 8 or 9" slicks will those tires launch the car pretty good with this setup, im getting new wheels so ill just stick the tires on the stock wheels
3200 stall
3.73 gears

And it does not have to be power adding bolt-ons. Just check my sig. 12bolt with a great clutch, slicks and suspension, thats it. LT1's are 12 second motors in stock form. Just correct the poor breathing stock CAI, and choking stock exhaust, then plant it to the ground. I don't even have headers and I can hang a wheel and dip into the 12's full weight. Owning big block Mopars and Chevys beforehand, I can say these modern f-bodies are my favorite whole package vehicle. I drive to the track, try to kill the motor, and have to bolt the street tires back on and drive home cause they last. LT1's are great also.

Ok, when I say an LS1 will do a low 13 stock, I mean right off of the showroom floor, street tires and all. Not a thing done, paper filter and all. My friend ran an 8.60 at our local 1/8th mile with his 2.73 auto equipped LS1.
I know LT1's are great also, which is why I own 2 of them, but I will acknowledge the superior motor, which is the LS1.

so a 3000+ stall is a better idea and a set of 3.73s would do me better than a 4.10... i just figured that a 3.73 wouldnt be much different than a 3.42

My only quib is driving them back to back and my personal pro-LS1 argument
1. No Opti
2. Better rearend (no clutches)
3. BRAKES BRAKES BRAKES!!
4. Driveshaft (no vibrations)
5. HEAT. LT1's heaters suck a$$
6. Gas gauge. I hate how the LT1's 'float'
7. Economy. Go fast and get good milage....not so good with an LT1
I agree a clean and fast lt1 car always has certain coolness about it, that old school vibe/respect. Makes me smile.
I still DROOL and kick myself everytime I see a wicked LS1 car. I don't with the LT1s.

If you got a 3200 stall, 3.73 gears, and some sticky tires...your car would be a different car!
Then once (don't know if you already have it) you got a CAI and LT headers, your car will really move! Then take it to that LS1 loving shop owner and show him that LT1's are nothing to snuff at.

Both are great engines and on average the LS1 is the faster car, but that is not always the case. And once you start moding all that goes out the window anyways. Choose your parts wisely and youll be fine. Oh I also have never had an opti problem untill I did my top end and the orig opti didnt like to rev over 6400rpms and would break up

yeah when i got it it had headers and stock exhaust but it wouldnt even brake loose, now i have a 3" exhaust and a cut out and its a totally different machine. and its got the air foil and intake and chip, so if i put a stall, some gears, and some sticky tread, you think i could be in the 12s
