Default 302 Cubic Inch LT1

I should be starting on a destroked LT1 soon. It will be going into a '55 Nomad and should be pretty neat. Does anyone want to see the build posted on here?

Because it's cool. Everyone builds the typical '55 Chevy 350/350 combination. We are putting a 4-speed behind the 302. Besides, short stroke motors love the RPM's.

Yeah sounds wicked I'd love to see one turn some rpm's your gonna have to go with a FAST or some other aftermarket setup though, to turn that kind of rpm.

Back in the day my friend had a 69 Z28 with the 302, use to rev it to 8000 RPM!!!! Of course after a while she let loose, They say 302's had no torque due to the small cubic inch...BS !!! I had a 440 cubic inch charger and he walked me..

It sounds interesting. It's not exactly what I'd plan on doing, but it should definetly be cool.

I've been wanting to do it ever since I saw that Baby LT1 ran different specs, even if I later learned that what I was thinking, didn't impact the motor how I figured :\

That thing should be a sweet motor and rev like it's trying to get away from a T-Rex in Jurassic Park

The problem with this and most other forums is that nobody wants to do anything different, and the same builds get copied over and over again even when they underperform.

It seems that if you are not running a cc306 or GM847 on LE or AI ported stockers then your build will be criticized .

I agree. The same goes for LT's. If you aren't going to run them then you might as well drop your car into the river according to most on here.

I was thinking about doing this a couple of years back when I had my 96' z/28. I had a buddy that had a 4.3 (v8 265ci.) caprice (small lt-1 3.0 stroke) engine that he pulled to put a 350 in. I was going to rob his crank and try it...I just sold the car before I could try it.

Good luck...I would definatly want to see pics/video of it.

Depending on if he's JUST destroking the motor, and not starting with the L99 block, then he should easily be able to do that since quite a few can with their upgraded lower ends. Stock can do 6500 afterall.

If he does go with the L99 as a base and uses it's smaller pistons and works up, he should be able to rev that thing to the moon Lot less piston weight to yank back and forth.

I think this would be a great candidate for the LS PCM mod, the cheaper one that the one guy just came up with, and then see if you can do 9000Rs Honda motors, eat your heart out!
