obd 1 code (quick take a look) dtc on scanner is 43 What does this mean?
and last question=if this code is stored in my pcm will it cause my coolant fans to always run even shortly after starting it when the engine is completely cold?

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I think 43 has to do with the knock sensor circuit. That being the case, the computer is probably running in open loop mode causing the fans to run. Did you complete any mods or do any work to the car recently? A little more info on the car may be of some help.

car has lt4km (installed Feb.08)(THIS IS MOST RECENT MOD DONE TO CAR, also made a big diff.)
still has original knock sensor, icm, and ignition coil
mods:cai,magnaflow cb,trifecta tune, ewp,1le elbow,lt4km, (40,000original miles)
new optispark has 1,000 miles

The LT4 KM is the reason. When you install this, you have to turn off the code 43 in the computer tune. I didn't install my LT4 KM until I had the tuning software to turn off that code. You will have to get it tuned or put the original back in.

wouldn't mail order tuner take care of that all ready? I did not know that.

no mail order tune will not take care of the issue. check the wires first to insure you don`t have a gounded line then pull the knock sensor look for anything obstructing the face of it then replace it with one from gm the aftermarket one`s from advance and auto zone have failed for me in the past.
