vid: 242/250 112lsa in a 350

quick video I threw together of my car. I dont have many miles on it so I wasnt going to go beating on it. yes the burnout was weak haha once its broken in more Ill have some better videos.
I was surprised at the driveability of the big cam. I had a similar cam in my 383 (242/248 108lsa) but on much lazier lobes and I think this 242/250 112lsa cam drives better with stock cubes. converter locks up at 1700 rpm in 3rd, 1500 rpm in 4th, no bucking and surging. doesnt seem to have a whole lot of power down there, thats one place where my old 383 has it beat, but I don't need low end with a 4000 stall
specs:
350 cube bottom end using stock pistons and a crank and rods a friend gave me (unsure of origin, all I knew is they would work)
bottom end was assembled with ARP rod bolts, clevite bearings, hastings rings file fitted, and balanced to zero.
cam is a custom spec by ed curtis, 242/250 112 lsa, just under .600" lift.
comp 1.6:1 NSA pro mag rockers, Trickflow guideplates, comp 7.2" pushrods, stock LS2 lifters, PAC1518 valvesprings installed at a hair under 1.800" and about 130 lbs closed, chromoly retainers.
heads have some bowl work done, some port smoothing, and a good valve job. nothing major. chambers are in the mid 53.x range. compression comes in at about 10.9:1 with the mr gasket .026" thick head gaskets.
Stock LT1 intake opened up to 58mm and a little bit of porting done by myself (first time, hope it flows well lol)
BBK 58mm throttle body.
STOCK airbox. gonna do an LS1 lid conversion when funds permit. pointless to spend money on anything else.
Locally built 4L60E with a Yank Prothruster 4000 stall.
2.73... yes... 2.73 gears in a stock 10 bolt. 4.10s are next on the list, PCM is already programmed for them.
Pacesetter LTs and a pacesetter y-pipe hacked up with 2 electric cutouts in place. car is open y-pipe in the video, can't find the intermediate pipe to hook up to the hooker catback.
removed all the emissions crap, ABS delete, A/C delete, meziere electric waterpump, UMI tubular k-member.
PCM tuning by Ion at MadZ28 (he seems to have done a real nice job with this)
goal: I would like to run 11.99 or better all motor with some good tires and maybe some suspension work but ultimately I just want it to last so I can enjoy it and have fun with it... not have it sit for 2 years again with no engine.

I told ed curtis what I wanted and what I had. freedom to rev to stock PCM limits, max power from 4000-7000 rpm, lots of gear, some weight reduction, no care for driveability/idle quality/idle vacuum/etc. that and I just couldn't allow myself to put a small cam in it.
theyre just on it when it sits for extended periods of time. these are whats on it now:

I was a bit skeptical too. I was going to spec my own cam and I was debating between a 230/236 or a 236/242. my valvetrain is set up so that I could really stick a lot of cams in there without changing much. if worse comes to worse Ill just swap a cam out. that will be easy compared to what I just went through with the car
oh and I see you're from sharpsville. I believe I played you guys in highschool football.

you should be able to hit your goal pretty easy with that setup. A budy of mine hit 11.2s with stock bottom end, ported stock heads, 4800 stall and a cam just a tad bigger than yours..he did it with 3.83 gears and it was under geared. Good luck with your setup and it sounds great.
I agree on the drivability of these cars with cams most people are afraid of. I drove my car on the street for a long time with a 255/263 mid 600 lift and it drive just fine with a 6 speed. Have fun with the car man.

I honestly thought my driveability would have been really bad especially with the 2.73s but I was surprised.
heres how the car sits as of about an hour ago:
it sucked when I saw it sitting there for 2 years without an engine. its downright painful knowing it runs and not being able to drive it lol

You shouldn't have any problems. I'm running a 236/242 in a car set-up similar to yours although I still have all stock suspension and ran a 7.86 in the 1/8th with a soft 60ft. This was the first time at the track with the new cam, still running 1.5 rockers. BTW that time is SUPPOSEDLY a 12.2 in the 1/4 so whatever thats worth to you hahaha.
