Just like title says anyone used either the summit or Jegs house brand of Electric water pump... The Jegs seems to be a bit stronger of a piece and costs more...

*BUMP*
Summit EWP flows 30gmp, while Mezire flows 43gpm,,,so there is a big diffrence in flow rate, but summit is also $75 cheaper.
so at 30gpm, how is this flow rate is compared to the flow #s of the stock WP? i remember there was a chart or a table showing the stock WP flow #s at diffrent RPMs, can anyone post that chart !

The Summit waterpump is actually rated at 37GPM, and that is straight from the manufacturer. No idea why Summit specs are off on so many of thier branded products, but they are...
Also, the Meziere waterpump, that is stated to be a 43gpm pump, is ALSO only a 37gpm unit. That is striaght from Meziere themselves as well. Some marketing genius at Meziere figured they would sell more LT1 pumps by stating a higher GPM figuring they would 'technically' be accurate because they only have to rate the motor capacity, not the capacity of the entire wateprump assembly because they only sell the motor. But in the housing it will flow only 37GPM.
The CSI/CSR waterpump only flows 32-34GPM, so it is the lowest of the bunch. It also draws the least current.
CVR said they would be bringing out a bigger unit that would flow 55GPM, which is on-par with the Meziere HD unit.
Now as far as Jegs in concerned, no idea who even makes theres so I couldn't check with a manufacturer for 'real' specs. But based on the amp rating and what-not, I would have to imagine it would be a 37-40GPM rating *IN* the housing. Of course, only speculation, but without the ability to verify it is an educated guess. I mean there isn't even dimension data to compare physical pump size to one another.
I can say the Summit waterpump (CVR) is basically the same exact size as the Meziere standard duty. They just use a sloped back-plate like CSI/CSR does compared to the sqaured off housing Meziere and Jegs uses. The CSI/CSR is also physically smaller than the Summit/CVR/Meziere units.

I use to run a CSI waterpump and it was great. If it flows the lowest then I wouldn't see the others being a problem at all.
I was also looking at the Summit pump because it's a great price, but I was always leery about buying a no name brand. Since it seems to be a good brand and people are saying that they are working well, I'll probably go with that one.

I know I know ...it's an old post...... my summit ewp didn't last one year! cvr I think , was cast in the end plate. I had a Meziere standard in it for about 5 years before it ,,the thing is , I bought the Meziere used from ebay and it looked like it was many years old at the time I bought it . the Mez still worked .... just noisey bearing or bushing ?? Go with the Meziere ,...for the people that still have the LT1 ,

I bought a Summit EWP from the local summit store "dump" rack for $75 due to be scratched. It has been on my car for over 5 years with about 6k miles on it and I haven't had any issues. Been through drag strip visits and multiple road racing events.

I usually will spring the extra bucks for brand name stuff depending on price and importance.
For example, I bought a new no-name opti off ebay for $60 (pretty sure it is the same as the Jegs and Summit brand opti's). I saved $440 when compared to a new ACDelco or MSD opti and if it dies, the car dies, I tow it home, pull the water pump, and fix it, worth that amount of savings IMO.
I plan on running an EWP when I build my 383 and I'll spend the extra $75 for the Meziere. I'd feel more comfortable using a known brand, the savings isn't that great, and if it fails and you're not paying attention to your temps, hello top end rebuild. not worth the savings IMO.

Meziere HD 55 gallon. I have more important things to do than to dick with pulling a broken WP. Car is my DD/autocross toy so I want to do things once and do it right.
More important than the brand, is wiring in a warning light to come on when the pump is NOT running. You have to wire the warning light relay "backwards" in this case. This won't keep the pump from breaking, but it lets you know when you get to make a mess.

I wired it to come on if it loses power or ground. Basically if it ain't spinnin', the light is on.
I also have an aftermarket water temp gauge that has a built in adjustable warning light reading from the front of the DS head. I have that set to 230* so I will either see the EWP light OR water temp gauge to tell me something has gone awry. I have purposely pulled the fuse to the EWP and voila, light comes on.
Oh I also have aftermarket oil pressure gauge....and oil temp...can you tell I dislike ANY factory gauge that is important LOL
