update on my car
Hey guys,
havne't posted in a bit but wanted to let ppl know my status after the ugly wheelstand my car endured in october.... My car is currently sitting in the fabrication shop in woodland california under the watchful eye of my chief tuner/fabricator and chassis guy Theo Dec and his two fabricators Kevin and Robbie....
My cage was certed to 8.50 but the guy who certed had a few issues with how my plates were attached to the floor with stitch welds so I dragged it up there to fix that issue initially.
Interior was taken out to facilitate the updates to the cage.
Cage modified and plates modified in accordance with NHRA rules.
center console removed.
Ozite carpet ordered and I'll carpet the entire floor with new carpet and carpet over tunnel. No more center console for a cleaner look for my drag car.
Steering rack bracket was straightened and welded in a support to ensure it won't break after the impact it took hitting the ground.
New SYA bars installed and painted.
nasty performance 14 gallon tank removed
fuel pump removed
Entire trunk/T-top holder area removed and floor raised parallel with frame rails on each side
Sheetmetal panel fabricated with integrated sealed sheetmetal battery box
65" chromoly wheelie bars with custom brackets being fabricated from Chassisworks universal kit. Unsprung wheelie bar setup with 8" of adjustability up/down
Rear bumper might be removed and parachute setup installed and welded to rear frame horns HOWEVER we are considering possibly just ordering pre-fabbed Wolfe setup and welding that to rear frame horns and reinstalling rear bumper....
Car is supposed to be finished this wednesday and shortly after that I am flying overseas for about 7-10 days. Expect to make some track passes in late february sometime.... chassis tuning and getting car to leave like we want it to.... If everything is going well we'll slip the 400 shot to it and go for the world record.....
We figure we need to 60 foot in the low 1.3's, high 1.2's (car has been 1.38 pedaling it), and somewhere around 5.75ish in the 1/8th.... Car went 6.055 on a pass with 100 less hp and nitrous set SUPER conservative cuz of wheelstand issues...
I'll try to get some pictures up of the trunk mod and other work going on. I took a look on friday but didn't bring my camera. trunk being cut out was "interesting"..... looks pretty weird but PLENTY of room for the wheelie bars to go by now...

my bumper ain't going nowhere..... it was just removed for the parachute mount and it's going right back on..... externally my car will look NO different...... the trunk was just removed for wheelie bar clearance and to clean things up in the trunk area with battery and bottle... i'll have some pics hopefully today...
thanks man..... she should be nice with the wheelie bars on there.... i'm just tired of hurting it.. I know it can be done without em but ppl that say "don't put em on there" ain't paying my repair bills...

Vince M is no longer the record holder.... for nitrous cars that is....
I'm trying to remember his screen name but it's a 30th anniversary Z28 from colorado with a carb'd LT1 and a speedtech plate IIRC....
ran a 9.034 at bandimere..... which is probably like an 8.80 at sealevel....
He has Big Rick's old wing on it tho....
Yeah Rick's record ain't gonna be broke until Sikora gets his car running.... And AFAIK Rick's record is like 8.teens...
