stock springs when NEW are only 85lbs on the seat, the Lt4 springs are 100lbs on the seat. my feeling is instead of just stepping up to the next spring like the Lt4 one should go to a much better spring kit like this
https://www.patriot-performance.com/...&cat=52&page=2
i got a bunch of crap about this topic and that this kit was overkill but i feel it is right on the money gives room to expand.

Oh boy. He said "stock cammed 97 LT1."
He has a 97 LT1 with a STOCK CAM. Even I could have figured that out. Did you think a cammed car is considered stock? Cmon guys...
If you just want to run 1.6 rockers alone, then the LT4s are PLENTY enough and cheap. If you want to run a larger cam, then the LT4s won't cut it. Might want to look into the Compy 918s or the Crane 10308 kit.
Or if you have money to burn, take a look at the Patriot kit.

out of curiosity why would you swap springs so many times? the amount of time and labor to do this multiple times offsets the cost of doing it right the first time. who would be burning money at this point?

sorry for the confusion on that, i did mean it was the stock cam. i really wanted to switch to nsa rockers with guide plates but i didnt know what all i needed to do it and i also heard there is some machine work required to put guide plates in?

I only need LT4 springs at this point and dont want to run such a stiff spring with the stock cam, plus im not entirely sure what im going to do. This setup is just temporary until next winter, no reason to spend $250-300 on new springs ans components when I might not even use them in the future anyway

nope no machine work on guideplates. i went with trick flow GP with trick flow hardened pushrods as well. just need new studs. but youd need them anyway

OTOH, if he plans on doing a cam in the future, why would you go through the hassle of installing springs and rockers the first time around when you can do it all at once? And unless you're SURE about what grind you're going to go with, you don't even know if the springs you choose now will suffice.

can u give me the part numbers to those pushrods and guide plates?
and will any 7/16 studs work or do i need a certain set?

Use ARP 7/16" rocker studs for SBC 134-7103 or the HD version - 234-7202. I am using the 7103s.
