Not to be a dick, but probably what ever you replaced during your bearing swap.

except i dont have 130 bucks to drop on an alternator...ive put like 20 bucks into it so far...and as to what i replaced during the bearing swap, all i replaced was the brushes...the alternator failed during the regulator part of the test so im guessing its the regulator...if that doesnt fix it, i guess im going to have to try the brushes again

Regulator sounds like it will do the trick. Good luck man.

I've been in the spot where dropping $150 was not an option, so I understand. The next thing I would do is to take it apart and examine the brushes. If they are bad again, chances are your bearings are allowing the shaft to wobble and consume the brushes. You could then go into parts replacement mode and put new ones back in, while saving up for a replacement alternator. Or find one on the For Sale section of this forum.

i honestly wish you luck with the regulator. i replaced the regulator in the last one i rebuilt and a year later it started overcharging driving back from my grandparents. 2am in the swamps of sc and all the gage lights on including the airbag light. thought i was gonna get sucker punched.

voltage regulator fixed it! and i saved myself 100 dollars...being a college student and having a shitload of bills really sucks when trying to fix a car...so the rebuilding of my alternator helped me a lot
