how do i know if i have the m28 or m29?

Check the RPO codes, do you see M28 or M29? Its in the glove box. Also you should see GU5 if it's a M29 car since all M29s had 3.23s from the factory. M28cars had 2.73s from the factory, so you will see the RPO code GU3.

I put one in my 95, and I LOVE it! I had to get used to the shorter 6th gear (.62 vs .5) but definitely a noticeable difference. I plan on doing 3.73 or 3.90's in the rear with it after I eventually get my 385 built.

I just threw in a t56 in my camaro...curious how you would decide if it is an m28 or m29 with just the tranny.

3.73 are goin mine this spring with an eaton posi. is it gonna be a big difference?

M28 and M29 were only available in 1993. They also do not have the skip shift servo on the side of the trans where the 1994+ T56 have it.
