I dont bother reading stupid messes.. im sure no one does either.. !!!!For torque!!!!!!!Stock-bolt on cars!!!!!! prefer shorties to long tubes. Cammed, h/c cars obviously prefer lt's, im not debating that, its obvious. Dont worry if you need clarification im not a "header dyno expert watcher whatever. Any body thats made the swap will tell you same. Some of yous really need to clean your stuff up.

! I was going to buy a set of pacesetters for my factory...stock (except GMMG) set up but I can see clearly now
...I just need to stick with the factory manifolds because they are the bomb. I feel sorry for all the guys with LT's for all the money they have wasted. If they only knew the goal is to have the highest time in the quarter! Or at least that's what i tell my wife in golf... no, no sweetie, the more times you hit the ball the better. LOL

Now the flip side of the coin is him trying to say that shorties rule for a stock, to nearly stock, LT1. Our LT1s are quite held back, but any vehicle that is able to breath better will benefit to some degree. Sometimes not, but that's a different discussion. Our LT1s gain a bit from shorties, but not enough to merit their cost. Mids are worth it, but I'd still be surprised if a fully stock LT1 wouldn't see more gains from LTs vs Mids (shorties aren't even worth mentioning).

LT's will out perform Shorties any time..hands down. The only time Shorty Headers out-do LT's is when the Shorties have a Turbo bolted to them.
They feel like they have more torque down low because in reality they keep the stock powerband in that area. The LT's move it up, so the torque is at a higher RPM, and a higher amount of torque as well.
In a way I guess a Shorty Vs. LT debate can be related to LT1 Vs. LS1 performance. The LS1 has more power, just at a higher RPM.

.. Iv always preferred !!Shorties!! to Longtubes on a !!stock-to-bolt on car!! Simple because its cleaner sounding and they just pour torque through 100mph like longtubes Never could! +1 for LT's though!.. your just not going to feel any real power diffrence with the LT's until 80mph+ Spend the money right once and get hooker's lt's
Shorties might make torque earlier, but I don't buy that the make MORE than LTs.
I feel that for bolt on cars though, an 1 3/4 mid tube (such as the ASM headers which you can barely call a mid) is optimum. Some have changed from lts and true duals to the asm design and picked up significant power AND torque.
