SBC starter work?
So i'm thinking about picking up a SBC High torque mini starter but need to make sure it would work...
What tooth is my flex plate? 1995 4l60e car...
Will a mini starter work?
Any suggestion under $100?
Thanks!

As long as it's for a 153 tooth flywheel, it should be fine. Keep in mind there are header clearance issues that need to be addressed. The LT4 starter is very good for the price - small, lightweight, and it sounds awesome.
Personally, I went with a Jegs ProTorque adjustable starter (formerly CVR-brand).

My car had a different starter because the L99 it came with did NOT get the LT1 gear reduction starter. Eventually I decided to go with a gear reduction and bought a cheap one off Ebay. Still works but is on a different car now. Put the proper LT1 starter on.
The stock LT1 starter is as strong as or better than the cheap aftermarket stuff and lighter.

Well mine took a **** and from where i have found the LT4 is $300 and i just dont have that kinda change right now so a cheaper one may have to do... Only thing that is killing me is i'm at about 11:1 compression right now and i think that is what killed my first starter and that i was dumb and tried to crank it a **** ton when i didnt have enough volts... Any suggestions or links so one under $100 bucks?

Find a local rebuilder.
My original L99 starter cranked over a 230psi cranking compression LT1 for a long time and that is a gen 1 non-gear reduction style starter.
Stop overthinking things and find someone to fix what you have.
Guy up the road from me went through 3 starters and an alternator for me for $200. I had a voltage problem in my wagon that wacked a couple starters before I figured it out, the third was the 170K mile L99 starter just to get checked out and the alternator was squeeking. Find a local rebuilder, will be cheaper and they do a better job than parts store remans.

for under $70 shipped, i had to go for it. 1yr warantee too. My old stocker had no problems turning over my motor either.

I bought a Powermaster high-torque starter for a sbc. It was around $150 iirc. It weighs about 4 or 5lbs less than the stock starer too. It was easier to install, than it was to remove the stock starter. I've had it for about 2 years now with no issues.
