Default Ceramic Coated Headers and O2 Sensors

So I just got a tune through madz28 which deleted all of my check codes for all of the emissions equipment I removed. The SES light was off and then 15 min. after running it was on again I scanned the code to find it was: P0134 Oxygen sensor, no circuit detected (bank 1). I did run the car for the first time with the sensors in so I am assuming that the ceramic ruined them... Can anyone else confirm what this code is? I already spent $165 on new sensors too already

I have read that running ceramic headers for the first time can ruin o2 sensors. It says that on the sheet that Ion sends with the tune. alsoP0134 is Oxygen sensor circuit - no activity detected ( pre-converter sensor, left bank)

wow that blows, what are you supposed to do, just accept that they will be FUBAR and have new ones ready to go, if you just pluged the holes and left them unplugged what the hell would the car run like???

yeah I already bought the new sensors. It will run fine without O2 input, I believe the computer just reverts back to presets (same thing happens if you unplug the MAF). at least this is how it was with my Mustang...

I bought some extra O2 sensors when I installed my headers due to what I read about new ceramic coating screwing them up.

My understanding is that unless you have converted to speed density the computer will revert, as you say, to "presets" that significantly reduce performance and efficiency below open throttle. I would think you have rather poor throttle response at low engine speeds. Am I wrong?

No thats correct, but it wouldnt change how the car idles... its idles fine but Im sure if I went to drive it like that it would not run like it should

How many more times do you think I should heat cycle it before i out the new sensors in? It has been run quite a bit already, Im guesssing at least 5 full heat cycles with the new headers

I didn't know about ceramic coating messing up the o2s when i put my hookers on. For the first 80 miles everything was fine, then SES came on and off couple times & car would idle up and down when in gear..after about 40 more miles we changed the o2s. Been fine since then.

If its been a couple months you are probably ok...Mine did it in about 110 to 120 miles. was not sure what happened, but o2s cleared it up & has been ok since.

I have forgotten what the "ceramic" coating actually is but a google search indicates that it's really just another unique form of paint. I knew that it out gasses for a while but I would think a good hundred miles or two would cure it completely.

Just an FYI for anybody else who may have this problem in the future: I put new AC Delco O2 sensors in and the code is gone
