Default Exhaust Gasket Leak?

Ok sso heres the deal. I had bought pacesetter LTS and used the paper gasket it comes with, eventually they blew out so i got some Mr. Gasket copper gaskets and put them in today, tightened them down, and now the leak is 100x worse then before. Any idea whats with this? I put the embossed side towards the header (as it says in the instructions) and used the lock washers as well.

Any advice? Kinda pissed cuz i wasted my day doing this.

Try the Felpro 1406s. I've NEVER had a problem with them, not even once.

Im not gunna solve this by buying new gaskets, these should work fine...its copper...soft metal between metal shouldnt leak, and it doesnt have a gash in it anywhere. No such thing as magic gaskets, just logic..wich happens to be beating me.

I had the same experience with Mr. Gasket. I even tried flipping them, it did help but no for long. I've had a slight exhaust leak for some time now.

Not really following your logic here (probably why it's beating you). How are you planning on solving this without at least trying another gasket? Plenty of people don't have luck with the copper gaskets.

Have you tried tightening the header bolts from the inside out? Sure the header flange is flat?

IMO, save yourself the trouble and at the very LEAST try the Felpro 1406s.

+1 - the only way to go as the alum crush gaskets have wayyyyy more material to work with then the copper or paper gaskets and are much less likely to develop a leak or blow out even on uneven flanges.

Another newbie that asks for help then tells you you're wrong when you give him the answer he needs.

Either try another gasket (another vote for Percy's, I love those) or enjoy your leak.

So logic and machine has kicked my ***.
After spending a second day toying with it im no where ahead of where i used to be, so im going to get the felpros (i cant find percys locally anywhere?). The guy quoted me about 25 bucks(CND) for the felpros, wich seems really cheap, or is that just me after spending 70 on the copperseals.

They are not fancy gaskets and won't kill your budget. They do, however, work.

Damn $70 gaskets? I the percy gaskets in the pic above for $20. I believe they go for $30 but they had them at my local speed shop and after spending a couple grand there, I got a deal on gaskets. Just order them, It will be worth the wait to get it done right.

Im going to put the fel pros in and then order those from summit i think.
For 20 bucks i dont feel bad if the felpros blow out or leak, until i get the other ones in, but for 70 bucks made my head hurt that they leaked.
