From what I hear, TCI is generally more of a budget converter.. and you get what you pay for

I have a 3500 TCI in mine, no problems with it. works great off the line, probably not the most efficient on the top end though.

What rpm do you shift at? What gears does the car have? Is the car a DD or Weekend Warrior? Any plans for adding N20?

In terms of all motor your going to want something that has a shift extension about 800-1000rpm below your shiftpoint. In terms of stall speed I would suggest 3600-4000.

I use to run the Yank SS3600 and I loved it. However it had a 4900rpm shift extension which is less than ideal with a car turning 6400rpm. Its currently being restalled to the PT4000. The PT series from Yank are designed for max effort N/A applications. The shift extension on the PT4000 with my power level and 3.73's is ~5600. Unsure about your gearing but your power level is similar to mine. I would recommend the SS4000 or PT4000 to you if the car is not a DD. If its a DD I would probaly go with the SS3600 which I DD'd myself and enjoyed. Anything larger than that might be too "loose" for DD'ing.

I would call up Dave at Yank and see what he says. Also maybe call up Chris at Circle D, they seem to be making some real quality converters that perform great just like the Yanks.
