Local guy went low 12's back when they first came out in his completely stock 03 Cobra. later put down close to 380whp I believe, and it was still stock. With a good driver it will take a LOT more than cam and bolt ons for an LT1 to keep up, even if the cobra is stock.

I am the owner of the 04 Cobra the OP is referring to. I WILL BUST THAT *** ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. I got $200 on it that I will BUST THAT *** at SDR or Steele.
Get your cam, you will need it.
My car went 12.3 STOCK.
It went 11.77 with a 1.75 60' and a baby launch on STOCK IRS. Next time I will have a built SRA. Come get some.

Poor 305 h.o... trying to cam his car without even longtubes or valve springs.
Also guys... his car has well over 200k miles. I don't know anyone that would recommend camming a 200k+ shortblock.

I can't believe you guys are camming a car for $800 to $1000 bucks. I bought a .503 cam with the intentions of having that price in it and IT DIDN'T HAPPEN, But I wanted it right and I bought duel springs, lifters, pushrods, 1.6 rr, guide plates, 30lbs injectors, lt headers, y-pipe, motor mounts, arp bolts etc... My list just keeps growing and I blew $1000 out the water!!! I don't care though I plan on doing it right the first time...

It looks like you need a cam, full boltons and some spray, and pray that it all holds together for a few runs....or take a saw zall to your car and still cam it....the second option is much cheaper

Damn that cobra runs hard, but no matter what you have there is someone out the with something faster.
Just don't jump into a cam swap without supporting mods. If your car is high miles just save up some money and buy a motor that is complete, or find a block in the classifieds and start building one up. That was my orginal plan, but my motor with only 114k miles on the clock didn't last long after I got it (less than 100 miles) and I spun 3 rod bearings and broke 4 top rings. The car still ran, but it did not sound good at all and I wouldn't want that to happen to someone else.
So all and all just let the **** talkers talk ****, and do your thing IMO

i stopped liking mustangs when they dropped the 302. BAD move.
anyway, like said, cam only is a bad idea if u have no bolt ons. When I do my cam im getting LT headers and an ORY.

I am almost willing to bet an 03 Cobra motor without the blower would still beat a LT1 car stock for stock, if you want to get technical.
