Largest Cam

If you still have stock gears with the setup in your sig that is assbackwards.
I say that after having made basically the same mistake. I tried a little 210/224 ZZ4 cam before I had the supporting mods. The car's performance changed little, then as I gave it all the proper supporting mods those things resulted in BIG gains.
It really comes down to what you are looking for out of your car. If you are just not wanting to do gears because you know it will weaken your stock rear, then I would say at least put a girtle on it, put some gears in it, and stay away from sticky tires.
If you are looking for the best out of both worlds and the strength of your rear is not an issue, then I would go with a nice CC306 or GM847 cam and put some 4.10's in.
3.42s and a T56 = 1500-1600rpm or so in 6th at 60-65mph which is perfect for fuel economy.
If you are saying that because most people put too big a cam in thier car and 1500-1600rpm is unobtainable for a given combo, then state that, but your blanket statement is what is useless...
Hell, make enough torque and you don't *NEED* anything more than a 3.42. Or make enough HP and run whatever gear, even a 3.23 or 2.73, you want.

I have a bone stock wagon with 2.56s and the heavily modded sedan with 3.73s. Now granted the wagon is heavier, but these cars get within about 3mpg of eachother. The wagon actually gains fuel economy if I make more use of drive instead of OD. OD at 50-60mph is down too low in the rpm range, even with the lowend torque b-body cam, it drives fine but the ultra low rpms hurt economy.
LOTS of b-body guys report fuel mileage gains with a swap to 3.42s with the A4.
