VERY Disappointed in Track Times
Ok, so this is the first time I have had the car to the track with a working clutch, working tranny, etc etc.
The car is a LE2 car with a built 6 speed, Dana 60 with 4.10's, BMR suspension and QA1's.
First pass out I bog the car and run a crappy 13.6 with a 2.3 60'.
Next run I keep her to the floor and run a better 13.3 with a 1.97 60'.
Now she was hooking, but it just felt like it did not have any power. The owner before me went a 12.44 with a 2.2 60'.
I had the car tuned not long ago and the guy converted it to Speed Density and said it was running PIG rich and leaned it out a whole lot.
I'm just confused, for a 400 HP car I expected a lot more than that out of it. Especially when other guys with the almost same combo (AChotrod) are running WAY faster than that.
I guess I'm asking, where should I start diagnosing problems.

Something's definately wrong there. My bolt-on LT1, with stock gears was running almost 2 tenths faster and a half mph faster on pretty much the same exact 60' time. Maybe part of the problem is your shift point. You said you were shifting right around 6, but that's not letting the cam work to its full potential. I'm a little unsure of the LE2 cam specs, but I'm guessing you should be shifting more towards the 6300-6400rpm area. Then, the times will improve greatly.

Would the times improve that much from, say, a 400RPM higher shift point?
The motor only has 88K on it but it is still on the stock bottom end. I guess I just need to say the hell with it and spin that sucker higher.
It has been low 12's with a 11x trap before.

should trap at least 112...
it seems down on power, what are your cam specs? you may way to rev it higher. if your not revving to the sweet spot its going to hurt it. something is definately up. i'd do as already mentioned and rev it at least to 6200. i would maybe have the tune checked by another shop if that doesn't help at all

thats a decent cam, its definately going to want to rev more than 200 rpm higher than stock. be careful with how high you rev it on the stock bottom end, but i'd shoot for somewhere in the 6200-6300 rpm window. if you see an improvement then, your headed in the right direction. do you have a dyno graph? if so where are you making peak power?

The graph is an old one that the guy who I bought it from gave me, looks like it is making peak power at 62-6300. But like I said, would 2-300 RPM make a sec difference? Because I think this car should be going low 12's.

You should definately be running 12.0's . Something is wrong your driving it around does it feel different than before?

When I first got the car it ran like a raped ape. I blew up the 10 bolt and put in the Dana 60. Over time it seemed to lose power. Finally I took it to the tuner and he said it was pig rich and showed me the VE tables and he was right. The computer was trying to lean it out by up to 17% in some places because it was dumping so much fuel into the car. Basically your eyes would water if you stood behind my car LOL.
He tuned the car and it ran great it seemed but still didn't seem like it had all its potential. Now, it seems just like a stock LT1. Hell my stock bolt on car with a 150 shot ran a 12.66 at 114 with a 2.2 60.

Did he readjust you PE tables after he fixed you ve tables?
Do you have a widband?
What afr does it run at wot?
Have you messed with the rocker adjustment?
Have you put a fuel pressure gauge on the engine and made a pull down the street to make sure its not a fuel pump dieing out?
How many miles on the engine?
Have you pulled a valve cover off to check for any broken springs?
What does the oil look like?
Start there.

230* of duration probably should shift at 6400rpm(or more - stock bottom end probably isn't the best match for that cam) to realize the potential of the cam. If the car makes 400hp at 6300rpm, and you shift 300rpm shy of that, you're never realizing the full horsepower, and when you shift early you put the motor even lower in the powerband, and further hold yourself back. For a 6300rpm peak, I'd say you'd want to be shifting at 6500rpm (assuming the rest of the setup tolerates that.) to fall back into good power in the next gear.
I bet there is at least .6-.8 of your ET, and more importantly 6-9mph your missing right there.

You should definitely be shifting at around 6500 with that cam, and you should be running 11's easy. You have to make use of the powerband and shortshifting like that can seriously hinder your times and mph. Tuning could be part of it but it sounds more like driving issues and the temp/humidity probably doesn't help.
