Haha. I know how you feel. I've been that way with mine a couple times, even without anything really that major. I need to get my car ready to go for Friday, tomorrow. I need to get the SSRA put back on (accidentally ripped the piece off my bumper on a parking block), change those stupid bushings on my PHB, and make sure the 10-bolt is full of fluid (small leak from the gasket after I put the rear girdle on). Then, of course, I need to clean it up real bad. It's filthy inside and out. Damn dark colors. lol

Ya i should prolly top off my ten bolt cause its been leakin a bit for a while but we'll see if i get to that tomorrow or not lol. I'll have to swap my pro-stars on, maybe put my LCA's on if i get hardware and double check to see if i got enough of the caliper ground off for the stars lol. Then get everything with the trailer ready lol. Keep your fingers crossed for me though man lol. I'm thinking with the shitty coil and the burned plug wire i found (both fixed now) hopefully that fixes my problems. I only got the cut-out in higher rpms when the car was in drive and had a load on it, i could rev it up to 6k easy in neutral which has no load so that is a large sign for a spark problem...

Are you going to be running a full exhaust system on your car Joe? Or are you just running open headers or open y?

First time out just gonna run full exhaust, I think it'd be cool once i get everything dialed in and if all goes well in my bench racing plans to run 11's with full exhaust and full interior car. Only real weight reduction i got is !emmisions, !A/C, !front sway bar, and pro-stars all the way around, gonna try to weigh it today or tomorrow too.

Well i finished everything up today with the wires and coil, went to crank it and got nothing again.... so i pull number ones plug to ground it on the header, crank it a bit to see if i see any spark, get nothing... Next idea i completely forgot to check the IGN fuse, check it sure as **** its blown, replace it. Hop back in the car and crank it a bit (completely forgetting #1 plug is out, crank's like twice then BOOM a loud *** backfire... so i get underthere realize the plug is out so i put that back in and check all the others, all is good there. Hop back in and go to crank it again and now i'm back to where i started once again, it just sits there and cranks and cranks and cranks not firing over....

FML!!! lol.

Any suggestions now?

The same thing just happened to me monday and the codes that popped up was the high res pulse ...so I thought my opti took a dump but yesterday I tried swapping a ignition module...guess what it started right up....can't explain why that happened but it worked.

So did your ign fuse blow again? Check your wiring...hot wire might be grounded somewhere

Check your PCM harness, IIRC, the red connector. It's your ground for the opti. Make sure that wire didn't melt in the harness. That could be your problem and reason why the opti would sometimes get the green like to fire... The connection may of just had it. Had this problem with my car. Similar symptoms and all new ignition.

It's not hard at all. The only problem is, they're not cheap. The cheapest I could get one through O'Reillys, even with my buddy's discount that works there, was like $103, I believe.

Sorry if this has already been said but DO THE OPTI DIAGNOSIS!!!

That right there will tell you, if there is fire going in from the coil, and not coming out, it is the opti....

It would not be unheard of for a brand new GM opti to fail, regardless of where you got it.

have autozone check your icm. I just had to replace mine and i got one from checker for 85 bucks. I know they will cut out when they get hot but i have heard of them just dying before too. And yes do the opti check, i think he said how on the first or second page.
