haha yes by a decent amount if both are running correct. my friends old stock 95 gt was high 14s low 15s. He wrecked it and got a 96 ta and ran a 13.9 stock. the older 94-98 GTs arent too great bone stock but they do good burn outs

Z28/SS's are always going to outperform and beat GT's of the same year/Gen. upgrades.
Now I wouldn't say the same for large year differences between the two.

Not much of a race. Tell him to get used to the looks of your taillights.

tune

the only stangs that will give you a hard time will be MACH1 and the COBRA

Yes, you'll need a tune for most of those changes.

A mail order tune is about 150 from Madtuner.
Do some of those mods I mentioned and you'll look at your Dad's Charger SRT8 as a fat pig and never want to pull it out of the garage yourself...

mine when it was still stock walked a 96 gt like it was nothing.

OP also if you haven't done the free mods yet those will get you started. The only mustang now that gave me a run for my money (similar in mods) was a geared full exhaust 03 mach1. The new stock GT's are still easy to walk on

srt8.....

skip the 1.6RR... waste of money IMO... theres a lot more things you can spend money on with a stock or even H/C car than RR...
