Default water in intake

when i took off my intake recently, i noticed some water/coolant sitting in there...this is obviously a concern...the only theory i could come up with is some sort of problem with the throttle body..where coolant was leaking into the intake through there..

any other ideas?

simple diagnosis, Do the throttle body bypass. if the problem goes away then you know its the throttle body gasket or something to do with it. If the problem doesnt go away then you got other issues going on.

if it doesnt go away you have a blown head gasket.

how does a blown head gasket allow water into the lifter valley? (not tryin to be a smarta$$)...

also..would a blown head gasket allow oil to leak? maybe if the gasket break is near an oil passage? I have replace every gasket/seal on this car except head gaskets and i still have a very very minor amount of oil on the floor after a drive..

one more question..if it is indeed the head gasket....assuming its a "minor" gasket break...should i try overly hard to be easy on the car? i mean..honestly..if its the head gasket...i'd prob use it as an excuse to put new heads on

^^There is no coolant cross-over in the Intake.

It could be an upper edge of the Head Gasket blown and it's seeping out.

How much was in the Lifter Valley?

I wouldn't start a car with a blown Head Gasket unless I was loading it onto a Trailer to tow it home or to the shop.

Like the merv said, if it was on the edge towards the lifter valley it could very well leak a little bit of water in there if it has a small tear by the water passage. Just because it has a blown head gasket doesnt necessarily mean that you will be losing compression. It could just be a tear above the water passage.... hence the water in the lifter valley. This of course is just an opinion.

well the gaskets looked fine, it was the silicone on the front and back that was causing my oil leak...whoever put the last intake gasket on was really stingy with the silicone....other guys think there is no way for the intake gasket to be the problem of water in the lifter valley ?

It was green(fresh). Don't think it cane from my throttle body. On another bad note, drove the car to work today and it's idling rough.

Unfortunately, I think I've just realized what the cause of my rough idling is....when I put the tb back on I forgot to hook up the coolant line out of the tb(I know! Bonehead move!) so when I started it needless to say I got some coolant on my $400 MSD opti. I hooked up the hose and it ran fine so I thought I was in the clear. Ran fine on my drive in(30 mi.) to work, but started sputtering as I parked. I'm afraid it's the opti any chance of it surviving?

new theory.....when I was hooking the evap solenoid back up I realized the elbow connecting the solenoid to the tb was missing. I capped off the evap and the tb. What does this do exactly? Going to uncap the evap and see if it makes a diff

that is where the fumes that are removed from the gas tank are sent into the TB. Mine are removed and caped off and mine runs just fine but everything has been deleted off of mine.

The opti should be just fine if it's a vented one. The Texas heat ought to dry it out in about an hour lol!

Dude if you want some help PM me and i'll get you my number so we can hook up. Haven't done a HG on my car either, but I do have a compression tester just in case.
