The old school wasn't designated LS6 either. It was ALWAYS LS-6 in literature. I know it's only a little typo but it kinda matters. The old schhol LT-1, always had the dash too. Back then they used dashes a lot. L-88, L-89, L-79, L-82, L-48.

If someone sent me an email saying they bought a Z-28 with an LT-1 in it, I would assume they mean a 2nd gen.

LS-7 was never once put into a factory car. It was available to any dealership as a crate motor, and was still being sold up until about 1995 or so as well. A place like Baldwin-Motion may have built some of them but the swapped whatever was in there out.

i thought the LS7 was the 454 big block with 454 hp and like 500 tq? or maybe that was the LS6 prototype??? i just typed in LS7 and they showed a 70 chevelle bone stock with the 4 spd and an LS7. completly original but he prolly could of built the car, like picked the options on it and had the crate motor swapped in right off the showroom.

LS-7 was 510hp. It was scheduled to be in production cars. You guys have to remember that this stuff takes time. They probably had it in the planning stages back in '67 or '68. Then that whole emission thing got in the way and killed off lots of good stuff. I have abunch of old HOT ROD magazines from the late 80's early 90's and you could buy an LS-7 for $2695 brand new.
