Default 93-96 center console arm rest question.

Not sure where to post this because its only on the 93-96 Camaro's and most of the website is 97 +

Where do you get the inner part of the armrest? Mine broke.

Popular problem. I don't believe GM makes them anymore which means you'll either have to pray for a rather large miracle in getting one used.

I have the same problem. The dealer wanted $250 for a new one so I didn't bother. It's not worth buying NOS because they will just break again. Take a look in a junkyard to see if anyone has one that isn't broken. It might be worth changing the whole centre console for a 97-2002 unit, which tend to be more sturdy. If we're lucky it won't be long before someone starts making the 93-96 cover aftermarket.

Yeah, we're all in the same boat... mine was broken when I got the car and I've come to realize several times why it's broken.

Ever have anything down in the passenger floor board that you need and aren't about to get out and go around to get? Happens to me nearly everytime I'm in the car... Well ya lean over to get it, can't reach it.. so ya kinda lunge at it and right about there, the lid slides over, off it's seat...

I'm sure guys have busted it from having it open... and since mine's always been busted, it's never come up for me.. but I've slid that thing off it's seat about a million times..

Frankly, I don't mind it being busted. It's a catch all and when I need something I can't find, I just toss the lid in the other seat and rat around then pile everything back in and plob it back on and ya can't tell that its busted until ya open it.

When mine broke I just put on a metal hinge from Home Depot. It was much stronger than stock, felt better and lasted the whole time I had the car. I would do the same on my broken console on my T/A but the lid is completely gone. I have a Camaro console that I don't think it broken if you want to make an offer. I was going to put it in the T/A but I'm not sure now. Would ship from Houston.

Djjab57 , thats not a bad deal but for that much money i think ill go with the metal hinge. lol I might first look for one at a junk yard.

Can someone please explain to me what you bought for a hinge and how you did it. Im clueless how you can replace the hinge for the center console. Mine did the exact same thing as OP and now dont see how you can put a metal rod on a broken piece of plastic. Im obviously a newb so PLEASE help!

You just get a small hindge and screw it to the console base and the other end of thr hindge to the console top. You dont replace anything of the original hindge.
