another reason I prefer a dyno tune over mail order, it's spot on and you'll know if you're making the power you're supposed to

sucks about the first outing but like others said, the first is always the worst

Well me and Mike we talking about what the hell could be happening and with me goin through the traps in 2nd gear at about 6-6500rpm according to the tach we were thinking maybe i'm either blowing through the convertor or something. Like i said before we still need to get together and get the part throttle stuff perfect then work on WOT stuff and try to get more info...

Going through the traps in second gear means you have 273's lol If your spinning it that high some 4.10's would work out nice! Just noticed you live in Iowa. My Buddy just moved out there from here. I guess the elevation is real close to sea level out there.

It is, but we had ~2500 DA there last night, since it gets pretty humid around here. So, times and trap speeds were off quite a bit for everyone.

Well, the norm around here is very low, to even negative DA. So, 2500, is a hell of a change.

Ya i know i really need to put a gear in this car but i just really dont know if i want to spend the couple hundred bucks for install plus a hundred or two for gears to put in the ten bolt, when i can have a 9 in with 4.10's and a spool for right under a grand... Plus i could sell the working ten bolt for a hundred or two to cover even more of the 9 inch...

Default Hey man

I was looking at your post, and I have some stuff laying around that could maybe help you out. Its not PERFECT for your setup, but I have a diff with a 3.23 in it on my garage floor, and it has a set of bolt on LCA relocation brackets already on it. Maybe we could talk out some kind of a deal if your interested? Hit me up

Thanks jason but i'm just gonna throw some 4.10's in my housing here in about a month or so. Got some stuff to buy before i do gears but they are next on the list for this car. And after the car gets dialed in and runs atleast low 12's (everything is there right now, just need to figure out whats going on) then i will be workin on a new project.

Anyone have any other ideas that could be causing this besdes the gears? From what i have read cam only with this cam and everything else i have most people are saying atleast low 12's out of my set up. Could gears really be causing me from going to maybe low 12's even 12.5 to 13.8's? Hell i ran 13.0's last year with slicks, 3200 stall, cold air, and cat-back. I've put way way too much money into the car this past winter for it to be running slower than stock....

Looking for any ideas! Thanks!

I would go over all the basics first. Plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, etc... I have a MadZ28 tune for my cc503 and it runs well so I don't think the tune would be that far off.

I would say 4.10's for sure! and a 3600 to 4000 stall with that cam. Oh and What was your 60ft and 1/8 times on your 13.8 pass?

i know the plugs and wires are good, plugs are tr55's @ .035, wires are brand new MSD's. I'll take a peak at the air filter and give it a good cleaning and have a fuel filter i need to throw on here soon.

4.10s are coming for sure, not sure sure if i have the money to throw in a different stall right now, maybe sometime this winter. As far as times go i seem to have lost the slips from the track day but i remember my 60's were 1.8's which is the same as what i was cutting last year with no cam and all that stuff...

What do the boys at AI have to say? Also have you done a compression check to see if its not the short block? The car was running great and seems everthing was done right. If it was just a head gasket you should be flyin with the new cam, but there will be killer gains with better gears and tc

I havent talked to anyone at AI about it. I haven't done a compression check but will add that to the list of things to check. Car has good oil pressure and all that so i would think the bottom end would be fine... I'll still check it though.

Any other ideas?

Heads had a valve job, milled slightly, hot tanked and cleaned and had the machince shop install the springs to the cams spec's...

On the street sometime you will mash the gas, then the car will hiccup a bit then pull. It sounds like its definetely coming back out the intake. What could be causing this?
