Default It's Finally here, track time friday...

Well after a long long winter/half of summer cam swap project (+ alot of other small things) the Z is finally gonna hit the track this friday...

Over the winter i swapped in an Advanced Induction cam kit along with plenty of bolt on's and small things. The cam is the 226/234 .569/.570 110 cam from AI which is supported by all the good stuff i.e. 1.6 pro mags, PAC springs, fresh valve job on the heads, slight bump in compression, added longtubes, EWP, deleted A/C and a bunch of other small things.

Car is going to be on pro-stars all the way around with 26x10.5 et streets out back. Race weight should be somewhere around 3400-3500. I'm gonna get it scaled before friday.

It's been a long time coming so i'm hoping things go well. Gonna be going out to do some data logging and tweaking the tune a bit. It has a base tune from Ion (madtuner) in it right now but will be gettin tweaked by Mike Jacobs who many of you may know from his recent 8 sec nitrious pass...

I'll have pics and videos up this weekend of the results from friday and i may also be hitting up a track rental on sunday so there could be more footage from there. Track is goin to be Cordova Dragway, in Cordova Illinois.

Hoping i put down good numbers as i ran 13.08 last year with just 3200 stall, cat back, cold air, and et streets, stock wheels all the way around. Hoping with all i've done i can see 12's and maybe some 11 sec time slips once everything is dialed in and running good.

Enough rambling, just figured i'd start the thread now and will update it throughout the week and weekend...

Thanks guys, ya i've been through hell and back gettin this thing done with just about anything you can think of going bad. Replaced the whole fuel system besides the lines, no cheapin out there, 255lph pump, new GM FPR, and 24# SVO's. Replaced the whole spark system with GM opti, New coil, MSD wires, and NGK plugs. But things seem to be going well lately so hopefully everything goes well this weekend!

Headed to the garage now to put on a set of single adj. rod ended LCA's if anyone wants to donate a set of relocation brackets let me know haha

Well damn Joe, now your making me want to go on Friday. I was fighting the urge before, because I don't want to risk breaking something before the car show on the 31st. I do want to see what my car can do now, with the 3.90's and bigger TB though. lol

Good to hear things are getting sorted out finally. What ever happened with the converter problem?

Not so sure it was the convertor as i havent noticed anything with some fine tuning done my Mike. I had alot of false knock (got that fixed with 160 tstat, and readjusting of the rockers) also the tune was BEYOND rich in higher rpms which is what i'm thinkin was causing the high RPM problems. Car runs hard and pulls though all rpms now... So we'll see what happens...

Sounds good Joe. If you were a little closer I'd make a trip to see how it runs. If Mike comes back up to Byron you should come too. We'll get some people together and make a day of it.

I'd love to make the trip to Byron sometime this year with a bunch of my buddies so it just might happen, i'll let you know if i do make the trip. Not sure whats goin on with Mike's car but i'm sure i'll be to Byron a couple times this year just to get some change of pace instead of Cordova time and time again haha.

If I get the time to change the front U-joint before Friday, you'll probably see me there Joe. I did get my plugs changed earlier though, then found that I have a bad U-joint. lol
