I am afraid that taking it off of the car and moving it around may have damaged splices and there are some spots that heat have damaged.

Worked on the coil mounting solution today for a little while, one of these day's I am going to get some pics uploaded. Also will be eliminating the TCS module on the driver side valve cover, and doing the passenger side wire and fuel line relocation mod to clean up the engine bay some.

So expect a call tomorrow Mike!
If your car has a T56, you're in luck because there is a 96/97 harness in stock (not common).

I will never discourage anyone from reworking their own harness. However, I have seen my fair share of used LT1 engine harnesses and they're not always in very good condition. The newest LT1 harness is now about 12 years old. With many years of heat cycles, condensation, modifications, etc...it's no surprise that these original harnesses are showing some wear.

A local friend of mine just completed this conversion on his car and it's running perfectly. I'll try to get him to post into this thread about it.

Got everything installed and buttoned back up on the front. Had my buddy do the wiring on the Coils (plug and play now). Friday I plan on putting the wiring harness on and making sure everything is perfect.

Sorry guys I haven't been updating this thread, just too much going on.

Again anyone with info or pics, post up.

Pretty much have mine ready to go, waiting on getting the computer back from tuner, putting a base tune in it so I can get it fired up. Finished my coil brackets last weekend, working on the plug wires now. New harness is on the car and looks beautiful. Fuel line has been relocated, HID kit installed and the passenger side fender wire mod has been completed.

Have been working on a room remodel and haven't had alot of time to work on it.

Sweet, got any pics of the install?

Did you use the DIY harness, or end up getting one from EFI?

I bought the DIY kit but found my harness was in such bad shape I didn't want to reuse it. Ended up buying a harness Mike actually had in stock so I did have to wait for it.. I will try and get some pictures on the computer, have them all on the camera just trying to find some time...

Well it looks like I'm selling my LTCC and custom tuned (by MadZ) pcm and moving on to this setup for my new build but I do have some questions. First I have a 94 Z28 m6 and if I swap to the LS1 pcm how will that affect my gauges and other functions working in my car? Will I need to swap my entire dash and gauge cluster?

You will retain your LT1 gauge cluster.

Thanks S10Wildside, I just ordered the LT1/LT4 kit and the pcm, then when I sell my LTCC and a few other items I'm going to get the EFI premaid wiring harness and coils. I do have a question though, I have a Rollmaster dr timing set, 97 cover which is already clearanced and the OP said he ordered the 24x reluctor wheel for a dr timing set. Do they have more than one reluctor if so I need the one for the dr timing set?

The original crank sprocket (of the timing set) measures 0.525" thick. Some aftermarket timing sets use a 0.550" crank sprocket that pushes the crank pulley out 0.025" (why would they do this??). Very minor, but to be on the safe side, use a crank sprocket with the 0.525" thickness. The crank sensor hole in the timing cover is fixed, so you don't want to push out the relcutor. No one has reported a problem with this, but it's something you should be aware of.

EFI Connection sells two different reluctors.

24x Reluctor for Single Row Timing Set
Fits both early SBC and LT1/LT4 with single row chain. Clears the LT1 timing cover crank seal area.

24x Relcutor for Single/Double Row Timing Set
Fits both early SBC and LT1/LT4 engines, but does not clear the crank seal area of the LT1 timing cover. An alternative is to cut the timing cover to extend the crank seal area forward just a bit. This will require a TIG welder and some skill.

A new billet aluminum LT1 timing cover is in the works to resolve this problem. Should be available by the end of this year.

That is good too know. Next year is when I plan on doing this, so hopefully it will be ready.

I got my kit and 01-02 pcm today and I have a few questions, do I reuse the LT1 crank position sensor or do I need to buy one from EFI Connection? Also where are you guys getting your base tunes done, I have a 383, 11.8:1 scr, 6" 4340 rods, 4340 forged crank, 847 cam, le3 heads & ported intake, 58 mm tb, Pacesetter LTs, 3" td exhaust, m6, no egr, no airpump. Thanks for any help you guys can give, also are the spark plug connectors the same for the LS1 and LS2 coils?

It should have come with a new crank position sensor. I had my tuner put a base tune in mine. If you are talking about on the actual spark plug wire itself then yes, it is just a 180* connector.
