Ok guys, I took all the visible slack out of the PR's and added and 1/8 turn. I can still press the PR side of the rocker and it causes the roller side to lift off the valvespring. Is this still too loose or am I ok? I rotated the motor over 10 times, to be sure that all the slack was taken out of the valvetrain. Am I on the right track? Id rather not start the motor and adjust them for the hot oil spraying all over.

It will splash a little, nothing crazy. Just have a towel ready to catch the mess. It doesn't take long.

So you can adjust the passenger side rockers with the engine running with no alternator? Any special instructions with that? Should I have a battery tender on so it doesn't drain it? My dad and I tried really hard adjusting the valves with the engine not running but we were a bit confused and it did not go as perfect as we had hoped. We got it as close as we could with it off, we're just going to do it with the engine running and tighten all that need it until it sounds right. I had to cut my y-pipe off temporarily though, so hopefully we can still hear the rockers for adjustment with open headers....and we don't take too long and my neighbors call the cops.

OddballLT1, a lot of people either use cardboard and/or rocker arm oil stoppers that clip on to the end of the rocker on the intake side to keep the oil splash from getting onto the exhaust manifolds/headers, seems to work for them.

It'll run long enough to adjust the valves, if you have a charger it would be a good idea to keep it on, it should help some. Also tape the metal part of the power cable that goes on the back of the alt with some electrical tape. That sucker likes to arch.

Good point.

OP, I have adjusted valves many times. It shouldn't take you longer than 10 mins for one side. The car will run fine with the alt out of the way. Just do one the driver side first, cover it back up, then remove the alt and do the passenger side.

I have my Alt relocated to where the A/C used to be so thats not an issue. The car drives a little better than it did, but im getting it tuned on thursday so hopefully that helps alot. Im debating trying to adjust it one more time to be safe.
