Default Got a problem..

ok so for the past few days ive noticed that when i run my car for alittle (1-3) at high rpm on the road and i go to push it real hard it hesitates for a split second then backfires. it doesnt do it all the time. only when i keep the rpm high for awhile. i knew that i had needed a new fuel pump so today i replaced it with the racetronix/walboro unit. after the install i took it for a drive and it Still does it. im sure its fuel related because it isnt all the time and goes right away after i lower the rpm (higher gear) as a side note. i dont think that my fuel regulator was hooked up properly... i had it hooked up but when i traced the hose back it went to nothing. does anyone have any feedback on this ?

the hose going from the pressure regulator goes to this weird T fitting that connects to the hose that goes into the cabine for the vent controls (which also hasnt worked for some time) and on the other side of the T was a hose that goes into the big wire loom that goes around the front of the car. i couldnt see where the **** it went to. i went along the entire loom and didnt see a damned thing. since i ran a new vacuum line from the manifold to the T (taking off the end that goes no where) my vent controls have worked again. maybe i damaged the fuel regulator driving it like that for so long ?

yeah i did. it was a mix of afew things which added together to give me a headache and a half... first the pump went out. so i replaced that and it was ok for about a day. then i replaced the FPR and then it just got worse. i was like... wtf?? so i found out tha tmy coil wire was arcing so i replaced that and it still ran bad so i pulled the pump out and found that the hose that was in the racetronix kit had come off the pump. so i replaced the 5/16" hose with a 3/8's fuel line and used some good clamps and problem solved! i guess i didnt need new injectors after all but it doesnt hurt. im still waiting for my tune from Ion to come in before i put them in.

it wasnt just twice. it was 4 times i had to pull the pump ive become pretty proficient with pulling the pump out now haha. the rubber hose kept either falling off or rupturing at the clamp. i suggest you get a 3/8" fuel injection line. unless your kit comes with that see-through hose which ive seen on alot of kits. mine just came with a small piece or rubber hose that didnt last long.... i have a pic ill upload later

its still a rubber fuel line but its less malleable. when you take it apart youll see what im on about. the pic below shows what happened to the 5/16" line from the kit.
