summit box is the same as Mallory 685
I was looking in my new Summit catalog and they have an ignition box in there that is identical in every way to the Mallory 685 except it's $40 cheaper.
$220 compared to $260 for the Mallory.
I just bought a used one but if I was going to buy new I wouldn't hesitate to buy the summit brand over the Mallory to save a few bucks. I'm sure it's the exact same box just rebadged.
Anyone else seen it?

i have the summit badged mallory boost timing box. its a nice piece, mallory wants 250 for the box, 30 for a harness for the map sensor, and like 30 for THE 2 bar map sensor... the summit one has it ALL for 250 and comes with a bunch of little bs stuff to install it, connectors etc. nice piece.

It's an ignition box like an MSD which ups the output of the coil. The Mallory actually puts out more volts than a 6A or 6AL
It has a window switch for nitrous
a 2 step
and a built in timing retard for nitrous, so you dont have to run around on a nitrous tune when you're not spraying. Timing is automatically pulled when you arm the kit.
Also has built in start retard if you had a high comp motor, retards timing 20deg on startup, makes it easier on the starter.

congratulations, now look up the summit brand for any other part you are looking for and you will find that it's cheaper
summit brand = usually a generic copy cat part of something else that is already out on the market

So, I can't really agree with that part. I suggest that the Summit part is an unbranded version of the same part made by the same manufacturer. I used to work in the manufacturing environment, and we would sell the same piece to multiple brand names, but just remove all the badging. The result was we had more volume, and the purchasing company was saved all the development costs. Win/win situation.
