Default Checking PVC on my 355

Ok Im about done with my 355 build. I just need to check PVC. Im going to use the clay method, but do I need to buy a set of soild lifters since the HRs will bleed down.
The heads are LE2s milled .030
all the pistons(forged Speed pro) are .010-.012 in the hole deck was cleaned up not milled
Im using MR G 5716 .026 head gaskets.
Cam Specs are 230/236 565/568 108 lsa.
What are you guys doing
Thanks!!!

1.) Your PV clearance will be fine, no doubt. Only in super wild cases will you run into issues. I am running zero deck height, -5cc pistons, .026" gaskets, milled heads with a 24x/.60x" cam and still had plenty of leeway.

2.) If you still want to check it, you can take apart one of the lifters you're planning on using and insert something in place of the plunger and reassemble it as a solid lifter. Don't forget to change it back when you're finished though!

yea, Mike you will be just fine, only in the real radical cases you will need to do that. Im sure those pistons in a stock block with your heads will be just fine even with the cam you have.

yeah man youll be good. im running the same pistons i believe with my slightly smaller cam with the same thickness gaskets with my heads milled .010" and i have no problems. if you want piece of mind however the clay method would suit you just fine.

you should be fine. my pistons are domed for 12.5 compression with a 65c head, plus they're .007 out of the hole, .040 head gasket 24x/25x 107lsa cam and i had good clearance

you can just take a stock lifter apart and make them solids for this PTV test. You probably know someone with just 2 stock lifters laying around.

Thanks guys!!!
Im 99.9% positive it will be fine, but I just would like to double check anyways. After I had the cam/ sprockets timing cover and everything back on and knew 100% it was all installed right when I was done. I pulled it all apart just to make sure. Sometimes I just think to much about stuff..
Ill see If I can find a stock set of lifters to convert. I think my buddy has a blown up LT1 sitting in his shop that I can steal some from.

Personally Mike, I wouldn't bother.....unless there is something in the combo that you're unsure of.....which it sounds like there isn't....I would worry. That's me though. And Let me know if you need a hand....I'm sure I can find some time to swing by

You should be fine.

I checked mine with clay just to be safe and there was plenty of clay.

I have:
The same Speed Pro Pistons
Heads milled .020"
Mr. Gasket .026" gaskets
Cam specs are 234/238 565"/.565" on a 112 LSA

We have VERY close setups so I would be bother to check

Thats forsure the right combo, only difference from the stock short is the pistons sit about .015 higher in the 355 but they are still in the hole .010.
Anyone know what the stock PVC is?

A mile and a half....j/k. I know it's far enough that most the time a timing chain failure doesn't cause piston to valve contact.....I say most because there are always exceptions...

Putting the intake on now. Then just need the cherry picker back to put it back in. I only have 1 day off a week and work 10-8 so it takes me forever to get **** done.

Good luck, Mike. Hope it runs good

Look on the bright side, what you're doing right now is what I was doing two weeks before the LTxshootout, so at least time is on your side

I can't wait to see how your car runs with the new shortblock

Mine hasn't been down the track since you and I ran the last pass at the ltxshootout, I haven't bothered since we're still faced with 3200'+ DA in KS right now

Mine hasnt made a pass either since we ran . It was just way too nasty out, then I discovered covered the broken rocker.
I finished up the engine lastnight. Just some engine bay detailing and waitng on my Happy hooker to get it back in.
Problem is, like I said B4 im working everyday 10-8 untill next friday. So it could be a minute.
