relocating the oil pressure sensor on 93 block

Default relocating the oil pressure sensor on 93 block

Am i able to remove the plug on the block behind the intake manifold and relocate my oil pressure sensor to the same location as the later model LT1's? If so what is needed, can it just be screwed in horizontally or do i need to install a nipple and a 90 like the later models? Also is the oil pressure sensor the same for all models? I broke another sensor while removing the headers during the tear down of the motor.

Is there and cons to doing this if this is possible? Will the plug removed from up top go in the place of the location of the factory position of the oil pressure sensor?

Sorry for so many questions in one post.

well after going out and looking at my block again and removing the plug i can obviously tell that the OPSU will not just bolt into there non will the plug removed place the hole of the factory OPSU location. So what size fittings will i need to install the OPSU up top?

You will need some 1/8" angled pipe fittings for behind the intake and a 1/4" pipe plug on the side of the block where the old sensor was. Of course you will have to route your sensor wire back up behind the engine to the new sensor location and need the later model sensor that has the 1/8" threads.

Thanks shbox. I figured this would be the best time to do it since the engine is torn down and the harness is getting put on a diet. so are the later model OPSU the same one as ones i have? If so then i will need to get a fitting for a 1/8" to 1/4". Is this correct?

As I noted, you need to get the later model sensor (not the same as what you now have). Just ask for one for a 1995. Then, it will fit the 1/8 angle fittings you need.

Sorry i misread the post. Will the pigtails be the same as my year model? Also are there any cons to changing it to this location over my factory place?

Also this might sound like a dumb question, but since the EGR on my car has been removed is there any actual benefit to to having the fitting or can i just install the sensor straight into my block like the 93 sensor was installed. i know this will make the sensor straight up and down but i didnt know if this would affect the function of the sensor.

With the EGR gone, I don't see why you couldn't install it vertically. As long as it doesn't hit the edge of the intake manifold.

okay good. That will just save me a little bit more time. I have already checked clearance for the intake manifold. The only thing i need to worry about is clearance of my hard fuel lines that run across the back of the intake manifold. Thanks ss.slp.ls1

The connectors should be the same. There will be no difference in operation. Do whatever you need to do to install it in the room you have.
