Default LT1 WS6 Ram Air Assembly

Does anyone know where I can get the OEM air box assembly (almost looks like the LSX style lid but has open element on top), does anyone know the part number and/or where I can buy one because GM discontinued the part.

check google. sometimes you can get lucky. i snagged mine from somewhere in oklahoma in jan 2008 for $115 shipped for the box, the K&N filter, and the MAF to TB bellow. Sometimes they show up on ebay but they tend to go for a ton of cash there. Last one i saw went for $285 and it didn't even include a paper filter or the bellow.

I have a complete Firehawk box, same style as the ws6 just more open area around the filter. Has the lid, a good K&N filter, and the base portion. PM if your really interested.

The firerhawk boxes are definetly a bit more opened up then the ws6 boxes(well the lid is anyways). They also tend to sell for a lot more than the ws6's too.

Your best bet is checking the classifieds or craigslist. Unless you want to shell out $800+ for one from suncoast.

I wanted the OEM LT1 WS6, I'm really trying to avoid an aftermarket one. I have to modify it either way because I have a speed density only car, no MAF. I just got the Ultra Z Ram Air hood on it and the factory lt1 ws6 box is a direct fit. I lucked out so much on that hood too, I got a REAL SLP casted Ultra Z hood for FREE. A friend of mine had it in his garage for like the past 5 or 6 years and he was never gonna use it so he gave it to me. It's in 100% perfect condition just needed to be cleaned, I shot it in black primer just to put it on the car and not have the white showing.

Aftermarket is just fine, my suncoast hood/intake is great quality and it also cuts weight.

did you use the stock ls1 base or did you use the WS6 base? I bet the stock base is pretty easy, probably just bolt on and go. Getting the ws6 base to fit is a PITA.

OP, if/when you do get a ram air box, it would be awsome if you could do some runs at the track compairing the two(RA vs CAI).

the ram air is superior to the CAI setup. i noticed a difference in a span of 20 minutes from swapping the CAI for the Ram Air

I noticed a huge difference after I did the ws6 base, and an even bigger difference after I borrowed an aftermarket lid, tires slightly spin if I hit it in first anywhere, but now track results yet. I would like to be able to see if I might be giving anything up by using the ls1 ws6 air box vs the lt1 ws6 air box.

i would think the LT1 setup has a slight advantage because of the filter area. but they should be very similar. LT1 sucks air from the top, LS1 from the bottom.

I believe it was a stock base I could be wrong, what is the main difference? the bottom of it was very open

the WS6 Base is twice as large as the stock base, so it sits higher
