i would buy it then disassemble it and put performance bearings in it, knowing me i would do forged pistons and new H-beam rods also....

however that all depends on what you are planning on doing with the car.

Haha...I prolly am...it's just some random mechanic that came into my store and got to talking to me about my camaro...said he got it for some old lady's impala and before he put it in she died...sooo...I hope he's not full of sh*t and it's actually what he says...I could prolly even talk him down some more on the price

if its for an impala... its probably going to feel alot slower than your stock engine... due to the heavier iron heads, a weaker cam (that usually came in them), and i believe they had a lower compression ratio also.... just a warning for you... im not an expert so correct me if im wrong fellas but i believe those were the big differences in the camaro/firebird lt1's and the impala lt1s.......

I bought a newly rebuilt LT1 from a Impala for $1200.00 including everything from injectors to the alt even a new belt.

Please confirm if it has lower compression because I plan to use a supercharger on this stock engine w/head cam package.

since it was for an impala make sure it is a 5.7 and not the 4.3 the casting number on the block for the LT1 is 327

If there's that big of a difference in the impala lt1's and camaro lt1's i'll prolly just steer clear...I was under the assumption they were all pretty much the same

I have very little trust for any mechanic I don't know personally. He's probably trying to pull one over on you... I bet he knows the difference between the motors.

if it was for an impala it should be a real lt1 if it were for a caprice it is most likely a l99. dont freak out it is probably a good deal you will just have to deal with iron heads and straight plugs unless you have a good set of aluminum heads to swap over
