Default Future Modifications

Mods are in my sig, more or less full bolt on except gears.

I'm assuming my next step would be a cam - but that's damn near $1200 in parts just to gain 40-50rwhp. If I pick up a used NO2 kit I can spray a 100 shot all day long for 300 bucks. What does it really cost to fill that bottle up all the time?

What do you guys would be a better option for me? (daily driver by the way)

$25-35 depending on local cost. n2o will definately be easier on the wallet and effect daily drivability, gas mileage, etc. less but **** can happen when you spray so who knows

either route you go make sure you get a good tune.

my cam swap wasn't that much btw but I'm a cheap ***
-used cc503 $130 shipped
-new comp hardened pushrods $25
-new crane 10308-1 springs $180
-new comp magnum rockers $180
-new timing chain $20

then of course you have gaskets and fluids + tune but you'll want to get a tune if you spray it also

You don't "need" to do anything for N2O, it just depends on how often, how hard, how big, and how smart you want to be about the setup.

Contact a vendor and do some reading, there's a right way to do it and a wrong way to do it...and I can tell you that the right way costs more than $300.

you'll want to tune it for n2o just to be safe, never know if you're really getting enough fuel, safe timing, etc

but then again I sprayed a 180 dry shot untuned for like 2 years so who am I to say anything lol

best and safest gains will be had with a tune when using nitrous.

Ahhh I see. I suppose I should get a new tune anyways - for some reason i'm getting like 7 miles to the gallon. Can anyone chime in on that? (doesnt seem to be running rich)

well if you're getting 7 mpg in a bolt on lt1 something is very wrong, like o2's or bad plugs

Just replaced the O2's... nothing changed!

You guys think it's the plugs? Holy **** is that job a bitch. I'd have to remove my shorties to do it.

4:10's. Im not "blowing diffs left and right".

That and long tubes with a cutout would make your car a whole new animal.

You have ewp?

LT's would really make that much of a difference? I don't really want cutouts... the car is superloud as it stands and I don't want trouble from the cops! haha.

I don't have an EWP. I'll just hang on to my stocker until it goes.. then upgrade.

Thats the point of a cutout, close it when in town, open when racing.

What kind of shorties do you have? If theyre 1 5/8" primaries especially you definitely notice a difference.

Wont be huge, but noticeable.

I'm not entirely sure, most of the exhaust work was done by the previous owner. I suppose I could measure them though? At what point do I measure them?

Also, lets say I didn't install new headers and just welded in a cutout (I have one large 3in going back), would I see any gains from that? (before or after cat?)

The headers are the restriction at this point, the loudmouth is pretty free flowing, that's why its so loud.

You would see a lot more gain going to longtubes.

Gears
LT's
Cutout

That is the order of effectiveness, gears will make the most difference, then LT's, then Cutout

agreed.

For those who say they're blowing them left and right, apparently haven't been setup correctly or they're just thrashing the everliving **** out of the car.
