Exclamation LT1 ss intake ?

So im upgrading to LE1 heads and a 226/230 cam plus stall etc...but i still have my stock intake. The 97ss hood on my car is ram air n I can see daylight through it and it sits perfectly over my intake. But I see every one with the cold air dropped like the moroso and slp. So my question is which one would give me better air flow? the stock intake with the ram air going directly in or the after market moroso/slp??? hope i made sense guys

I've heard of guys picking up power going from the SS intake to a standard CAI

supposedly the ss intake hurts power due to heatsoak (sits right above the intake) and all the bends hurt the flow

Years ago i read a comparison between the 97 SS vs. Z28 with cai. The Z28 made more power on the dyno but on the track the SS had better 1/4 mile time due to cooler Ram Air.

I've got mine setup to where it's kinda like Ram-air..I cut out the steel where the Fog Lights were and air comes in there, hits the plastic air dam in there and goes straight into the Lid.

That's pretty good IMO.

I'd leave the SS intake on there with a k&n filter...the differences between the 2 in 1/4 mile probably wont be different. If your doing road racing or 1/4 mile, the ram air would probably be better for highway speeds and the last half of the track...the faster you go, the more you'll get...

yea i've kept ram air all this time when I was just full bolt ons but idk how much difference there would be dropping it or doin the lid..seems like enough air would go through already through ram air hood. I just dont like how much it curves even tho it doesnt travel much. I will run it at the track after a tune but mainly I just street race for fun, usually from a roll so im already getting enough air coming in.
