Default ok big problem here....

just finished the install on my 383 lt1. m-6. its in a 94 Z...

when i tried to crank it the first time it just clicks under the dash on a relay and under the hood. the vats is working properly because the security light goes out after 4 seconds. horns, lights all function. fuel pump does not prime. any ideas im stumped.

a few other things done while motor was out... removed both airbags, and all HVAC, power steering, a/c comp. relocated alternator down low.

you need to figure out what relay is clicking. do you know which one it is? if your fuel pump isnt priming then i would say you have a fuel issue. either your pump isnt getting the sign to turn on. or you have a bad pump. that would be the first place i looked. check the relay, and then look over your fuel system

Would any of those fuel issues cause the motor to not turn over? The motor will not turn over.

Battery may be no good. It doesn't take very much voltage for lights/horn to work. Put a volt meter on your battery and check to see if it's any good. Have someone try to start the engine while the volt meter is on the battery and see if there is a significant voltage drop. I take it the battery sat while the swap took place? You can also take it to Autozone and have it load tested for free.

ooo **** i didnt even notice the just clicking part. yet definately if its really dead it will click just once. if its only lacking a little itll just click repeated. the best way to explain it. its lights and all take about 2-3 volts to turn on. not much at all. and maybe 4-5 volts to click the starter solenoid. but it wont have enough to crank the motor over. but yea definately check your battery. good call SS RRR

This happened to me when I went to fire my stroker for the first time. It turned out I had the ground to the starter solenoid in the wrong place. I put in on the block and fired right up. Just something to check.

Negative on this, The motor would still turn over! Actually when I fired mine up for the 1st time I primed my engine while the fuel pump was disco'd and the coil wire off.. You say u removed the airbag's. I had an issue with mine as well. Make sure you install all of the relays back in off the bracket that holds the passenger side airbag in...There are like 4 little relays with the VATS module attached to the bracket. Mine fired right up after plugging them back in!

I think the black and white wire is supposed to be grounded. I will go look at my car later and check.

Definitely your battery, I had the same problem last year. Clicking noise was driving me crazy, then I jumped it and it fired right up. I'm assuming your car has been sitting for a while - you'll probably need to charge the battery for a good 15 minutes before youll be able to start it. Or just swap in a new battery
