'96 Z28 A4 Vert. bolt-ons new best @ATCO
I've been adding bolt on mods in stages for the last year or so to my 100K mile '96 Z28 A4 vert. All my passes were in the 12's @ ATCO Raceway.
My best slip reads: 1.70 60ft., 8.064 1/8 @ 84.02 MPH, 12.73 1/4 @ 105.28.
I made around 15 passes total with my slowest being in the 12.85 range. I did MPH 106 a few times.
Mods include MAC '93-'95 style mid-length headers with a single magnaflow 3" cat into a Flowmaster catback, K&N CAI, 160 T-stat, 4.10's, Yank SS3600 stall, dyno-tuned.
I run 26x10.5 ET streets on salad shooters 12 PSI cold and cheap 165R15 Kumhos 40 PSI cold on Summit 15x4 stars. I just added a line lock......really helps avoid the dreaded one wheel peel.
I removed the passenger seat, jack, spare, front sway bar and floor mats. With about 5 gal. of gas the car weighed 3360 lbs + 190 for me = 3550 race weight. DA that day (10-19) was -800 so the usual excellent ATCO air was present.
The next mods will be 1.7 rockers, electric water pump, LS1 alum driveshaft and I think I'll call it a day. I hope to run 12.5's or maybe sneak a 12.4 if possible. I would like to 60ft. in the 1.6's but I think it's just to heavy .......maybe the remaining planned bolt-ons will help?
Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Now if it was a cam only or h/c motor that needed the extra breathing, then LT's might help a little but I doubt he'd see much if anything right now.
Those MAC's are 1 3/4 primaries right? Perfect for a bolt on car

I would consider a different converter.. I have only seen a couple cars with Yank converters that really impress me 60' wise.. (Flame suit on)
Good times!

My car weighs in at 3550 race weight also. I cut consistent 1.50-1.52 sixty foots in a DA of 2000+.. I think you could get at LEAST some bottom 1.6s out of it, in that DA I would want 1.5 with your setup.

You cut 1.50 sixty foots with a bolt on full weight lt1? I'm assuming you did it with a modified ls1 based on your sig. . You have to look at how much power the car is making, not just the DA and weight. I'm sure he could get a 60 in the 1.5s making 100 more hp with that converter, lots of people have done it and it's a pretty proven converter.
I only make 370Rwhp and I am expecting high 1.4X short times next track visit, mind you his will still be around a 1500DA..

I have a H/C ls1.. The 60 foot as VERY little to do with your actual power.. I know people with 320Rwhp cutting just as good 60' as I am in and the same DA.. With him being in such an amazing DA there is no reason he shouldn't be in the 1.5X range with a good converter.

good job man! im surprised u got the raceweight so low with a vert. thats impressive. also ur times r very impressive! how well does the 4.10's work with the 26" tires? what r ur rpms thru the traps? im thinkin about going with 4.10's. def add those mods that u plan on adding. they will help a lot! and get a tune if u dont already have one. lighten the car up some with those mods and u will see a 1.6x 60ft most definetly. and prolly close to if not a 12.5 pass
edit: and IMO the SS3600 is an amazing converter. i have 0 regrets.

You may find better 60' times with that stall if you play with the launch rpm. When I had that stall I was cutting late 1.6's when I was launching just above idle, this was at a 3700lb. raceweight. Seems like the car runs really good! With your planned mods along with some good drag shocks/springs I could see that car going low 12's.

My thoughts exactly. . Sure you CAN get a decent 60 ft without an asston of power, but the car is going to be really setup suspension wise and probably a good bit of weight reduction. We are talking about a stock suspension, bolt on lt1 here, not a heads/cam ls1. I guess he's implying a car won't launch any harder with more power. . hmmm I wonder why all those nitrous guys have great 60fts. .

thanx for the replies everybody.
the car put down 249rwhp s.a.e. corrected on a mustang dyno,
i will post the sheet if anyones interested.
i only use timeslips as a true measurement of performance and i believe that i am against the edge of physical limitation on the 60'.
this car ran 13.90's@100 BONE STOCK with a K&N C.A.I.
With the addition of a YANK SS 3600 and the above mentioned E.T.STREETS,
the car ran 13.30's @ 101.
with the addition of MAC mid lengths into an off-road y pipe into an 18in" (3in"o.d.) bullit muffler and 4.10 gears the car ran 13.0's@104 with a best of 12.84@105 after a good long cool down with ice on the intake for 2hrs. LOL in OVER 2200 FT. D.A.

If you don't already have LCA's, Brackets etc. that would help.

lol this is a pretty idiotic statement lol you clearly know little about the bolt on game in the LT1 world.

nice results for the setup
I find with my Yank the harder I foot break it the harder it 60's..even though my Yank sucks as stated in this thread going 1.40 60ft on HP.
I would try a cutout as your next mod as the Flowmaster are not known to flow well and we have seen 10+ rwhp on mild cars and 20+ on highly modded cars.
good luck on your next outing
