Default $300 for mods

I have a goal of running 12's before spray with my Z28. I've got around $300+/- to spend on some more mods.

The car: '95 Z28 6 speed

Current mods:

-Granatelli MAF
-Edelbrock shorties
-2.5" true duals w/bullets (no cats)
-3.73 gears
-spec stage 2 clutch
-B&M short throw
-drag radials
-weighs 3160 w/o me (just a few things gone)

I ran a 8.5 (1/8) 13.3 (1/4) w/o the radials and exhaust, but I'd like to get a little more done before going back out. Please do not suggest long tubes as I would like to keep my shorties and new exhaust.

I was thinking about an "over the radiator" intake setup, but I'd like to hear LS1tech's input on bang for the buck for $300 in mods.

I don't see a CAI on your list...that'd be my vote (or the LS1 lid setup).

Either that, or a PCM tune.

Ditch the granatelli for starters.

Maybe try to find a good used stall.

I ran a ported/polished/de-screened stock MAF at the track and ran slower

Of course you would. MAFs are calibrated to flow a particular amount of air. When you make the MAF larger it cannot see the extra air coming in due to the increased flow.

Stock unmolested MAFs are usually preferrable. Most people steer clear of Granatellis and any other aftermarket MAFs because they can be a tuning nightmare.

1.6rr's, valve springs, and a tune if you can squeeze it all in the budget.

Doh! Missed the M6 part. Sorry.

The 1.6's RR's and springs is a good suggestion.

After that I'd get a good intake on there and start workin omn gettin a good kit. The stock lt1 intake really chokes them down.

I'll put a shameless plug in here for the guys at nitrous outlet. When you're ready to look for a kit their lt1 plate setup is awesome and great people to work with.

Yah, don't think he will opt for them.

Anyways, what about under drive pulleys and maybe AC Delete?

Line lock 80-110 depending if you buy prebent lines, it will help your 60ft

pcm tune 100-125, 10hp should give you another mph or two.

And a cutout if budget allows, another mph or so.

I would say rocker arms but they would break your budget. Otherwise LT's but I dont think your going to buy a set used and swap them in.

get a k&n, ditch the aftermarket maf, and then get a dyno tune. most f bodies can pick up 10-15hp from a tune, bone stock. with the intake and exhaust, 20+ isnt out of the question.

1.6rr's would be a good mod like he said, but if done right, i dont think it'll fall under your 300 budget. if youre gonna do the rockers, may as well do the pushrods and valves as well. i believe compcamps sells their rocker/pushrod combo for a lil over 400.

Didn't know that. You think running a stock MAF with a tune compared to the Granatelli with a tune would be better?

i woould suggest
guideplates 25
7/16 studs 30
1.6 rr from ebay 150 i think
summit spring/retainer kit 75

people may not recommend these rockers but i have been running them for 17k miles and they still look brand new. and i have been shifting at 6500 rpms. the springs are great for a hotcam or cc503 but if you go bigger you will need different springs. then i would save up for a tune

OP, do you plan on doing a cam in the future and if so how aggressive of a cam?

That would determine what type of rocker and what size stud to use.

are you running a stock TB? what kind of plugs, wires, did you do the coil pack conversion? are you using a stock shifter? and the CAI is a must!
