Default Vented or Non-Vented??

It's time for a opti swap in my z28...do I need a vented opti or a non-vented? Or does it even matter? Thanks

Yes, it matters. Your 1995 Z would be vented.

Unless something has been modified, 94's are not vented.

The 1994 isn't vented so if you want to go vented you will need the 1995 Timing Cover and lengthen the Cam Dowell Pin a lil bit.

Have fun.

One other option is to modify a NON-Vented Opti to a Vented Opti. One of the mags I have around here shows how to do it.

Depending on how good you are working with your hands, amount of time you have, availability of the cover you'd need to replace, etc., it might be worth considering.

I can track down the mag article if you need me to; could be posted on their website. Let me know.

All the b-bodies were indeed vented, Up until two weeks ago I owned one of each year the LT1 was available too so don't argue with me.

For those of you with unvented setups all you have to do is buy the MSD cap and rotor kit and it will add a vent. Whole lot easier than swapping timing covers and I am sure a whole lot better than whatever a magazine advocates.

I was just talking about the aluminum head LT1's...I usually forget about the B-Bodies

You will also need to change the cam timing chain sprocket. the hole in the middle is different. if you are gonna do the swap get the 95 f-body timing cover. Or you can do what 96caprice said and just get the MSD cap

You would have to change the whole cam too, if it is still stock. The hole in the front of the early stock cams is not big enough for the vented opti drive.
