Dont worry.
We'll get it figured out. Try the rockers, double/triple check all the wires are in the correct firing order, the plugs are gapped right and not cracked also make sure the opti is on correct.

Have you checked the injectors on a noid light to make sure they are actually opening?

If you are getting spark through the wires then it pretty much has to be fuel related or the plugs are all toast - even a weak spark will still sputter and cough if it is getting fuel.

Pulling the plugs after trying to start it can help us try to get this figured out, think you can get a picture of a few of them? I am curious how they look.

do the noid light test and also ohm the injectors and see if they spec right. also you may have your 44 psi when you prime, but how is the pressure under running/starting? do a fuel volume test and make sure you are getting enough

well guys i know i may need to be beaten after i tell you this,,,but here it goes. i pulled the plugs and they were all pitch black sooty.very thick black soot on all plugs. so if common sense would tell me i have bad plugs.....so simple i know lol. and on told of that they are the cheapest Champion copper plug autozone had for this motor.....Champion Plug part number RS14YC6.......how bad did i mess up by buying these plugs? and would a cheap plug be the reason it sooted up? and why did the car fire on a dime when cold?

Being that your plugs look that bad, your best bet is to pick up some NGK TR55s gapped at .050" (stock gap). Make sure you gap them yourself out of the box.

I haven't read the entire thread, but have you tried changing plug wires? Are they in good shape? Look for arcing at night.

ok you can test your coil if you can find the ohm reading it should be at when its operating correctly..kinda of need mitchell or a GM write up... now an opti is really the same as any distributor but flat and thin if you want pull yours apart youll need an inverted torques bit i think 6 or 8 in size of the points in side are worn out then you need a cap and rotor as for ohm reading on coil i have no idea
