Unsure about the LT1?-rip it out and build it up right. Heads/Cam/intake LT1's can run 11's with ease.
Buying and transplanting an LS1 into a LT car would be more costly and time consuming than just building the LT1 up in this case.
as far as end power result goes:
Money into building LT1 > Transplanting LS1

Not worth it..
You have to change all wiring harness, engine/tranny, interior and engine bay. You need to swap fuel tanks,(because of harness and fuel system diff on LS1) and swap from springs, tranny crossover, tranny hydralics...Dash would need to be changed, unless you have a 1997 already than its just the speedo
WAY TO MUCH WORK IMO

LT1s are very potent engine, with lots of potential. Not as much as the LS1, but still, LT1 cars have screamed there way down the track all the way down to low 8 sec 1/4 miles...plenty quick for me!!
The aftermarket is larger for LS motors, and it's easier to get power out of them, but once you get to the higher hp marks, it's starts to become more and more important how the car is tuned, how the suspension is set up, and how the car is driven ect.
The LS1 cars have tons and tons of possibilities, but honestly, so do the LT1 cars...
For suspension, the big dog companies for camaro/firebirds are Spohn performance, BMR fabrication, UMI Performance, and Edelbrock.
company websites:
www.bmrfabrication.com
www.umiperformance.com
www.spohn.net
Great vendors of these companies include:
www.summitracing.com
www.jegs.com
www.ws6store.com
www.marylandspeed.com
(others can chime in with other vendors)
some great parts you might want to look into would include:
Sway Bars-front and rear
Adjustable Panhard Bar
Subframe Conectors (very important and beneficial)
Torque arm
Tunel brace
Driveshaft safety loop (for NHRA drag racing regulations)
you can look on most any of these sites to read more about what each thing does exactly, or try a search bar on this forum for lots of great info.

The LS swap is pretty damn easy..alot of you guys make it more out to be waaaay more than it actually is.
Here is what I swapped..
Engine Harness, K-member, LS T56 & Hydraulics. That's it.
The Fuel System actually doesn't have to be even touched..common mis-conception alot of people have and I laugh every time I see that. The only thing you need to do is put the Vette Regulator on it. I had a custom line made for my application.
Yea I re-wired some stuff on my Car and re-wired the Fuse Box to better suit my swap, but it's still the 1995 Stuff..I have the 1995 Gauges and they work fine.
As far as cost goes..depends on what you want to build. For me it went like this..
Harness: $200
2002 PCM: $60
K-memeber & Mounts: $200
LS1 Steering Rack & Linkage: $70
That's the guts right there, Transmission is next..
LS1 T56 + Shifter & rebuild: $2200
Textralia Clutch: $1k
Hydraulics & Pedals: $320
Yea we are up to some money now..
![Nod](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_nod.gif)
Oil Pan: $150
Accessories & Sensors: $350
Z06 MAF: $50
Now at this point you can pretty much choose what Engine in longblock form..that is a pretty much a perfect list of everything needed before you get to that point. The only thing to add next would be the Intake, Throttle Body, and a Tune.
For me at this point I have roughly $4600 spent..but that's including a Built Tranny, BAD-*** Clutch, and pretty much everything minus an Engine. About $5k later I had the 408 assembled, you can find a stock 5.3 or 6.0 for alot less.
Here is my Swap Thread..

Any questions?
