LTX Shootout and 21* Trickflow heads

For the simple reason that the line has to be drawn somewhere. If not then why not let converted intake cars in if they meet all the other rules, why not let 3 speed trannys in if they meet all the other rules. There simply needs to be a "breaking point" where you have to move to the next class. Honestly, you can easily hit your goals without having to go that that head anyway.
I dont buy into the "its not fair to the extreme guys" argument. Thats basically saying that the platform should remain stuck in time. And any new mod is an unfair advantage so no advancement of technology should be permitted.
Its not my event so im not going to complain whatever is decided, but im all about progressing the platform so its not the same combo winning the races every year.

ltx manifolds have been bolted to 18 deg. heads and less with adapter plates. I dont' care what the final ruling is. Thats for the people that run this thing to decide. But what I have seen is there is a breaking point for the less rules = more participants thing. Once it starts getting into cubic dollers wining everything people that can't afford to keep up and feel they have no hope in even having a chance to win they won't show up either. In allowing 1 or 2 cars in a "slower" class there may be 5-10 that decide not to come if they feel they are just outspent. I've seen it happen in the lsx world. If a certain 2 cars show up basically no one else even gets in the hunt. They are outspent and have no hope of competing unless they wish ill will on the two cars that have the field covered big time. Same thing use to happen in the ltx world. If Joe Overton showed at a race he was the only car in class.

I do not care what head is used myself. The end result still comes down to a proper built package. There is not going to be some crazy gains here from this small change.
all the rule changes requests is going to keep people from coming
I feel the rules are pretty fair and people can fit somewhere with there car and in the end everyone has a good time.

I still say EX classes should only allow a factory head. But thats just me.
I know some will bring up the tire thing against me, but IMO that really only helped the M6s guys have a chance at hooking. For instance Z8s will be going for the LT1 record on a radial.
What I do think is unfair is putting a 408+cube, AFR227, solid roller that will use up every available RPM the stock computer can handle (7200), with a super light bottom end AGAINST a small cube, stock head, stock intake HR set up. Theres no way in hell the later could compete saying both chassis are equal, and you know the guy with that kinda engine will have the better chassis set up.
Then again if that kind of set up is allowed then why not let the 21* TFS heads in.

If someone wants to argue about the 18* heads, simply put, they are not a bolt-on deal AFAIK. Heads like that belong in Outlaw IMO

Personally if I was to build an engine for one of the N/A classes I would take a set of factory heads and the money saved on not buying the Trick Flows would go straight into port work from a real head porter.JMHO

I think it's fine for the 21* to be in but also consider welded intakes in the EX class maybe with weight pentalty as long as the car falls under the rest of the rules for the class weight, trans ect. Don't get me wrong I'm not crying it's just my car fits the EX class more than the Mod except the intake.
Either way I'm going to be there and have a good time.

I agree with 95 Formula. I won't be able to make the Shootout (wifes health)so ignore my input. My reasoning would be though, whats to stop someone from rolling them over another 2 degrees? Now your looking at a 19 degree head. Or am I off base and this can't be done?

I didn't read every page, so if this has been mentioned please forgive me. Angle milling an LTX or any sbc head .125" is one degree. 2 degrees would be angle milling the heads about 1/4". Tough deal to pull off. Good bye intake seats.
There is a ton of power with rolled over heads. If there is going to be a weight penalty it should be pretty stiff. At power levels of low-to-mid 500 rwhp and a car at 3250 lbs, 100 lbs is only .005 to .007 second in 1/4 mile. Roll-over heads are worth much more than that. Easy couple ot tenths.
