LTX Shootout and 21* Trickflow heads
I need some feedback on the Trickflow 21* heads. Some of us organizers are saying allow them and some say do not. On one hand it is only 2* which you can actually angle mill your stock heads to 21* and have the same thing so why not allow them? On the other hand...if we allow the trickflows other racers may ask.." you allowed those 21* heads why not my 18* Brodix.......etc". I know some street cars will have these bolt-on 21* Trickflows on their car.....we can't put them in Outlaw now can we? Get my drift????????? What do we do here? Allow them in Extreme Street and Modified...or not?

I havent researched tham that much, but atleast let them in Mod.
I actually dont think any aftermarket head should be allowed in the EX classes, although I know others disagree with that.
So Im fine with it. If you can run AFR227s and a 408 w a SR then why not the TFS 21* heads.

I agree. I think we should allow them . From what I remember the flow numbers where decent but will not outflow 23* AFR 227's. They may be comparable to the 195 and 210's. I will mention that to the others.

Here are the flow specs as cast on the 21* TFS heads from Trickflow: https://ls1tech.com/forums/10495801-post26.html
As I recall AI claims getting nearly identical results when they flow tested the heads as cast as well.

Hey:
I say allow them in both ex and mod, I doubt they will make much difference on the cars that have them, than the other choices that are out there. It takes a lot more than a 2 degree head diff to make a significant advantage on something you can do to a stock head, 18* are a whole different story. Good luck on your choice hopefully it makes the most folks happy whatever way you choose.

I see no problem with allowing the 21* TFS heads - the big lure of them is for mild builds keeping CR up anyway, as a kind of bolt-on deal. I would imagine most of the really serious builds will be using max ported AFRs or converted SBC stuff anyway.

I say allow them. I mean afterall, they are a bolt-on LT1 specific head, and I don't see 2* making an unfair advantage over other LTx specific offerings that would be found on cars that qualify for EX street or Mod classes.
If someone wants to argue about the 18* heads, simply put, they are not a bolt-on deal AFAIK. Heads like that belong in Outlaw IMO.

For the simple reason that the line has to be drawn somewhere. If not then why not let converted intake cars in if they meet all the other rules, why not let 3 speed trannys in if they meet all the other rules. There simply needs to be a "breaking point" where you have to move to the next class. Honestly, you can easily hit your goals without having to go that that head anyway.
