How do I measure the required length for my driveshaft? How much does a custom usually run for?

Most custom driveshaft vendors will tell you where and how to measure. I suggest Denny's Driveshaft.

Cant you use the M6 gas and brake pedals, and you dont need a wiring harness if its a 350/400 or 700r4. Anyone know if the UMI M6 crossmember with TA relocation will work?
This is what I know Ill need.
Trans
flex plate
TC
shifter
shifter linkage
center console
plate to cover up m6 shifter hole.

I thought that was about it, maybe Im wrong?????

You can use the same pedals I did a swap with someone so I had to swap. No you dont need a wiring harness if its TH350/400. Also I have known some people to use the UMI crossmember for the 350 but it required a good bit of shimming on the aft mount and had to weld a tab onto it for the mount You could prob just someone the size shim you need instead of using a stack of them. Or just sell the crossmember and get one for what ever tranny you pick

No harness needed. You will also need the correct length d/s (stock is usable if you get a 9in tailshaft TH350). You got it all pretty much covered, just don't forget a tranny cooler and lines!

Haven't seen anyone mention the speed sensor and reluctor gear required for the speedo to work correctly. I think these are the part numbers: Sensor-GM8655291, Reluctor-GM8655315.

Mike-I thought you were going 700R4?

I did a TH350 in my previous car and loved it in town and cruising at 50ish...
anything more would a bit annoying.. 65ish was 3k rpms with 3.42's...
I build a tq arm mount and used STOCK Driveshaft..
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PLENTY OF VACCUM TO THE TRANS!!
It will make the world of difference in how it shifts..

I know I will probably end up having to switch over to a TH400 once my Performabuilt breaks when I'm done with my build several years from now. Hopefully it holds up though *crosses fingers*. Why considering the switch Mike?

The question is, why shouldn't he consider it? It's a badass transmission.. I don't regret it one bit. It's just starting to get old now since I sold my daily a few months ago. I am either going to trade my TH350 or just get another daily.. Probably another daily lol. The 350 is way too much fun

Just asking because I thought Mike loved bangin' gears.

I'll personally stick to my built up 4L60e until it can't handle the power I eventually throw at it anymore. Overdrive is a plus for me right now as during the spring/summer time when I am actually able to drive the car I drive 2,500+ miles a month. Most of which I just drive just to drive it. Its a lot of fun.

Now I'm stuck in an Iowa winter and want to shoot myself every time I walk into my parents house whenever I'm home from college and see my car just chilling in the garage waiting to be driven. Sad when you get a huge smile out of your face just from sitting in a car and starting it. Too many good memories at once.

Yeah I don't blame you. That's why I love living in Florida. It's always a nice day, except when it's raining >.<

I do love banging gears but they are expensive to build to do what Ill need it to do. I could have 3 built 60es or a 400s for the price of 1 T56

True that, Mike! And funny you say that, 1badzee, I am actually considering moving down to the Orlando/Tampa or even Ft. Lauderdale area after college

You wouldn't regret it lol. The only thing is, summer gets a bit humid and miserable, but the rest of the year is beauty. You can go to the track on the coldest day (in the 20's and 30's even)

I know what you mean man. I've got a TH350 sitting in my garage now that I may rebuild and stick in my car.

Your list looks good so far. M6's are easier to swap because you don't have to do any reprogramming on the computer. You don't need a center console either. You can use your stock M6 console pretty easily. Also, go with a FMVB, no need for vacuum or kick down cables.

I have an auto valvebody and I'm not using a kickdown cable.. It shifts on it's own though which is great, and when I go to the track, I can also opt to shift it manually at whatever RPM I desire. That's the only reason I went with an auto valvebody.. It would get old to be manually shifting up or down everywhere you go (assuming you will be driving on the street as well).
